Khan has to be nagged & chivvied into taking any kind of stand on this, which is of course frustrating. but I'm curious to know if he has any powers to shut this sale down beyond what he's done already (asking the Met, retweeting an AJE article etc).
I condemn any attempt to sell property in the settlements in the West Bank, be that in London or anywhere else in the world.

Saudi, for the first time since 2019, is going to allow Lebanon to export to it again.
This shift is not just about Lebanese farmers selling apples, grapes, olive oil, sweets or industrial goods back into the Gulf. For Lebanon, this means dollars, jobs, exporters, trucks, ports, families and a small door back into the Arab economy after years of isolation.
But the bigger story is Saudi.
MBS is using the war to reposition Saudi Arabia as the indispensable trade hub of the region. Jordan is being pulled closer. Syria is being reopened. Lebanon is being brought back through the state. Iraq is tied to the Development Road. Turkey is tied through the rail corridor. The GCC increasingly needs Saudi logistics, Red Sea access and land routes to survive the Hormuz shock.
This is not the original IMEC. This is a Saudi-centred version of regional connectivity.
Netanyahu wanted Gulf oil and trade routed through Israel. Instead, the war is pushing everyone back toward Saudi ports, Saudi land corridors, Saudi diplomacy and Saudi security guarantees.
Even Lebanon is being folded into this map. Hezbollah's leadership has already called for Saudi to reconsider ties after the war. Riyadh reopening trade now suggests it is not waiting for the old anti-Hezbollah fantasy to magically work. It is moving through the Lebanese state while managing the Iranian reality around it.
The US does not seem fully on board. Israel is definitely not the centre.
