Steam will no longer be restocking physical gift cards at retailers due to scammers.
ALT Can I purchase Steam Gift Cards at retailers? Yes, but only for a limited time. We introduced Steam Gift Cards to retail stores back in 2012, and added the digital program in 2017. Unfortunately, scammers use gift cards from major brands like Steam to take advantage of all people all over the world. As we have continued to put more and more restrictions in place, scammers have adapted. They continue to have an impact on Steam customers and other unsuspecting individuals. So we've made the difficult decision to end the Steam Gift Card program at retail stores. As Steam Gift Cards run out of stock at retail locations, we will not be restocking them. We expect all retailers to be out of stock by the end of 2026. Though we will no longer be selling physical gift cards, you will still have the ability to use your existing gift cards on Steam whenever you choose, subject to local laws.

npm v12 needlessly decided to block unsupported keys in .npmrc (breaking pnpm)
so pnpm v11 turns around and drops support for most .npmrc field and all npm_config_ env vars
and now the ecosystem is irrevokably fragmented despite sharing the npm registry. good job everyone 😞

Word of advice: if you are requesting repairs on a house you are buying from the buyer, negotiate a price and schedule the work yourself rather than having them arrange the work.
They are motivated to cut corners and will.

Valve co-founder Gabe Newell responded to accusations that Steam operates as a monopoly in the PC gaming market
Addressing the criticism, Newell said gamers have “plenty of options” when buying games.
According to him, players can choose from many digital stores, including rival platforms and stores run by game publishers themselves.
Valve says Steam’s success comes from a service that both gamers and developers willingly choose.

A new report has revealed a heated debate inside Valve over pornographic games on Steam.
According to former employees, Valve’s top lawyer suggested the company take a stronger role in moderating adult content on the platform.
Gabe Newell reportedly disagreed, saying, “What the f*** do I pay you for if that’s your opinion?”
The quote comes from accounts shared by former employees and has not been publicly confirmed by Valve.
If this is true, Gabe Newell is even more based.

I can put domain restrictions in place with that arrangement. Without it, I have to navigate stream settings and controls. Not as ideal.
