Why can't we just compromise and get the afternoon off or something? The fact is, our tax dollars are already going to the salaries of the federal public servants that Trudeau declared a holiday for so businesses and individuals are already burdened with decreased services.
Replying to @AndrewLawton
I realize stat holidays are incredibly disruptive (and costly) to business. Whether this is made a provincial holiday stands to be seen. Ideally, those who want to observe should have the opportunity to do so without the burden for business owners to subsidize just a day off.

A few quick wrap up thoughts on the end of the #cpcldr race, and some interesting stats for my fellow political nerds. A thread… (1/16)

We want a fair race. I'm not afraid of a hard fight, and the Conservative party is not one that should be cancelling legitimate contestants. @CPC_HQ should let them run.
Replying to @globeandmail
Leadership hopefuls Joel Etienne, Joseph Bourgault and Grant Abraham were all disqualified from the race, and no explanation was given from the party’s leadership committee as to why the three were disqualified. tgam.ca/3vC8t2D

I had tried fixing this exact same issue in past National Councils. But other Councillors always felt I was trying to "fix what ain't broke". By the time this was flagged for this race, the LEOC rules were out and it would have been inappropriate to change the rules. #facepalm

After carefully considering the options for #cpcldr, I believe @LeslynLewis is the best choice for conservatives that want honesty, integrity and politics that is collaborative rather than divisive. I will be putting @PierrePoilievre as my second choice...
A campaign is only as strong as its grassroots support. Our grassroots supporters have helped us be the first campaign to announce that we have submitted the full $300,000 to officially get on the ballot! Thank you! #cpcldr #cdnpoli

as his policies do not fully represent what I believe is the best path forward, but would certainly aim to fix a lot of Canada's challenges. I hope conservatives can agree that we need honesty and integrity 1st, and then can we truly bring people together to win - in that order.

Credit where credit is due: @patrickbrownont has reflected and learned from his leadership of the @OntarioPCParty - but read the excerpt from @politicoottawa below: who else could this have applied to?

I expect that @JustinTrudeau is aiming to succeed @jensstoltenberg as #NATO Sec-Gen once the latter's term ends on Sep 30. This is the perfect exit plan for a PM and @liberal_party looking to move on. This whole tour was a vote-getting exercise.
After his team said the trip to Europe was about more than photo-ops, @JustinTrudeau had 7 photo-ops in one day. He should be in Europe but more substance and less of the sales pitch for the voters back home. Read & RT as I break it down. #cdnpoli torontosun.com/opinion/colum…

It appears that the race is on. I’m hoping for a less presumptuous, humbler tone from leadership candidates for the @CPC_HQ ..and more than just short-term western Cdn related policy commitments for greater fairness in the federation. Something more enduring is needed…

With the date of the @CPC_HQ leadership race now set, the day I'm looking forward to is 3 months after to see whoever wins actually keep their promises for such a period, and if they are able to keep our big tent party together.

If your kid has access to your phone and is going through your personal messages and hitting the Retweet button, then making a conscious choice to "quote" or "retweet" a direct message from what I would imagine is private correspondence, then you are beyond negligent.
Folks, @rbatherson is as honest as they come in this game. If he says it was an error, it was. If you knew the number of times Everett tries to grab my phone in any given day…and who knows what that little mischief maker would retweet!

I believe National Council should investigate these claims and review all the social media messages from Mr. Batherson to ensure he remains neutral in this process. Clearly he has been in direct contact with partisan sources already.
I accidentally retweeted a leadership campaign related post that was DMd to me. I deeply regret the error & would never endorse any attacks between Conservatives as someone who is required to be neutral.

Fun fact: @PierrePoilievre is the second conservative politician born in the 1970s in Calgary, with a strong economic track record to seek to become head of the federal executive branch of government. Who was the first?
