If a paramedic asks you if they can intubate your patient they brought to your ED who needs the procedure….the answer should always be yes

It goes with out saying, any procedure outside their scope of practice, like awake intubations etc, do not qualify.

If you disagree with my opinion, I encourage you to still allow them to be involved in the procedure. BVM ventilation is such a crucial life saving skill that needs practice and these can be powerful teachable moments.

@WHOOP Very disappointed. You said there would be a lifetime membership for founding members for 3.0 to not upgrade to the 4.0 and take the subscription fees, and now are saying there is not. This is essentially the same deal as if we had upgraded to the 4.0 over a year ago.

Many patients initially diagnosed as PEA might actually be in shock. Instead of using your fingers to check a pulse, use POCUS! Every five second delay in pulse check increases mortality by 18%

💯 we can and should find a way to initiate cold water immersion in the field. Supervisor/battalion chief carrying a preloaded cooler of ice during times of the year of high incidence could work.

3 takehomes from this episode on exertional heatstroke:
1)Take a rectal temp. Put this in the protocol.
2) It is a time-critical diagnosis to be TREATED ON SCENE.
3) Cooling is the #1 priority.
