The companies I love working with in office hours are the ones where the founder has a specific, weird, earned insight that nobody else has. Not "AI for X." A genuine edge that came from living inside a problem. The ones that are dying almost always have the same pattern: technically competent founders building something nobody asked for, moving metrics that don't matter, avoiding the conversation with the one user who'd tell them the truth. The lucky thing is that 2nd type of founder can become the 1st kind if they don't stand still, they are willing to talk to people, try things, and always seek high rate of learning.

The wonderful Anne Applebaum explains the whole reason for Russian's invasion of Ukraine
Putin didn't invade Ukraine because of NATO. He invaded because Ukrainians were proving democracy works. Historian and Pulitzer Prize winner Anne Applebaum puts it plainly: Putin looked at Ukraine's democratic movement and thought, "If they can do it in Ukraine, then people could do it in Russia. So I need to crush this." That's the real threat Ukraine posed. Not missiles. Not borders. A working democracy next door. Applebaum frames the war as a fault line between the democratic and autocratic worlds. Russia isn't just trying to take territory. It's trying to erase Ukraine as a nation, reduce it to a colony, and send a message to every country that the post-1945 rules of Europe no longer apply. Those rules were simple: no invasions, no wars, borders don't change by force. Russia understood exactly what it was breaking when it crossed into Ukraine.

Lately I've been doing the opposite of encouraging people to move to San Francisco. Yes, @paulg is right. Being in San Francisco does give many advantages that he lays out well. But I meet so many who feel FOMO for not being here. Families won't let them move. Or they don't yet have a business that works here. It's EXPENSIVE. I spent time this week with one guy building a robot that removes snow and ice from sidewalks. He wants to move to SF to be around other people who work on robotics. Being a founder in the midwest is lonely, he told me. I told him that the whole advantage of where he lives is he is close to the customers. The government officials who could actually buy such a robot. Being close to customers is a huge advantage. One that many entrepreneurs don't appreciate enough. I told another guy "come to San Francisco to get up to date for a couple of weeks then take what you learned back to your local community." I've seen the advantages AI automation brings to businesses, whether big, like CocaCola, or small, like a dentist in a small town. But most businesses haven't yet automated around the world. Those businesses don't spend time in San Francisco. And people outside of SF are the ones who will help them automate. In other words, there is a HUGE opportunity outside of San Francisco/Silicon Valley and one that isn't hyped up enough.

Eight European countries are calling for a Schengen entry ban for Russian servicemen. Should’ve been done long ago and permanently. Leaders also argued there is a risk of former Russian combatants involved in organised crime, extremist movements or hostile activities against EU countries in the context of Russia's hybrid actions.

People don't realize how bad autocrats are for their people. Hungary is so poor that they need to shut down universities in the middle of the semester to save money. Imagine being so broken as government that you can't pay your schools anymore and send students home. Meanwhile his family and friends get ungodly rich. Same with Putin and soon with Trump. They bankrupt their own countries for generations, fill their pockets, and blame everyone else for it. Worst of all they are surrounded by yes-men so they even believe they are the victim here.
With less than 24 hours left until Hungarians head to the polls, I figured it is a good moment to take one final look at what Viktor Orbán has achieved in his 16 years of uninterrupted, near absolute reign in Hungary, by comparing Hungary’s performance with that of Romania.🧵

The International Paralympic Committee has prohibited the Ukrainian Paralympic Team from wearing their national uniform due to… its inclusion of elements of the Ukrainian map within its internationally recognized borders. There is no moral low that the IPC bureaucrats would not reach. They are ready to ruin the remains of the Committee's reputation by acting against UNGA resolutions, Ukraine’s territorial integrity, and international law, only to please Russian war criminals. We urge the international community, including all countries and national Paralympic committees, to condemn the IPC's immoral actions, including their disgraceful decision to allow blood-stained Russian and Belarusian flags, and to boycott the opening ceremony of the 2026 Winter Paralympic Games. Please, take a clear stance and refuse to be part of the IPC's war crimes sportswashing!

Pocket is the new Juicero. You can quote me on it. Oh, and comes with privacy concerns to boot.
Pocket (@Heypocket) sold 30,000 units in 5 months recording doctor visits, legal calls, and board meetings. So I did my due diligence like I always do. Their Google Play listing says "No data collected." Their own privacy policy lists audio recordings, transcripts, device IDs, ad identifiers, cookies, IP location, and behavioral inferences. One of those is wrong. They brand themselves "open source". Their GitHub org (github.com/heypocketai) contains exactly 4 repositories: - Raspberry Pi Zero prototype called icecream-project [from the CEO's prior Omi work], - FFmpeg Flutter fork, - docs repo, - org profile page. The actual Pocket device firmware, mobile app, backend infrastructure, and audio processing pipeline are NOT here. There is NO Pocket source code to audit. Recordings go to unnamed "cloud/AI vendors" with no disclosure of which LLMs process your audio, what jurisdiction they operate in, or how long they retain it. Users can't choose their provider or bring their own keys. If you cancel your $19.99/month subscription, your recordings get processed by whichever default model Pocket selects. The contact mic is marketed for recording phone calls without speakerphone. In 11 US states including California (where Pocket is based) -- that requires all party consent. The device has NO consent mechanism. Their terms cap liability at the amount you've paid or $100 (whichever is greater) - for data breaches involving your medical appointments, legal consultations, and proprietary meetings. A third‑party LobeHub skill has already reverse‑engineered Pocket’s web API and can pull recordings, transcripts, summaries, and action items using short‑lived Firebase bearer tokens extracted from the user’s browser session. Their privacy policy confirms that if Pocket is acquired -- every recording, transcript, and summary transfers to the buyer.

🚨 Someone just open sourced a fully autonomous AI hacker and it's terrifying. It's called Shannon. Point it at your web app, and it doesn't just scan for vulnerabilities. It actually exploits them. Real injections. Real auth bypasses. Real database exfiltrations. Not alerts. Not warnings. Actual working exploits with copy-paste proof-of-concepts. Here's what this thing does autonomously: → Reads your entire source code to plan its attack → Maps every endpoint, API route, and auth mechanism → Runs Nmap, Subfinder, and WhatWeb for deep recon → Hunts for Injection, XSS, SSRF, and broken auth in parallel → Launches real browser-based exploits to prove each vulnerability → Generates a pentester-grade report with reproducible PoCs Here's the wildest part: It follows a strict "No Exploit, No Report" policy. If it can't actually break it, it doesn't report it. Zero false positives. It pointed at OWASP Juice Shop and found 20 critical vulnerabilities in a single run including complete auth bypass and full database exfiltration. On the XBOW Benchmark (hint-free, source-aware), it scored 96.15%. Your team ships code daily with Claude Code and Cursor. Your pentest happens once a year. That's 364 days of shipping blind. Shannon closes that gap. One command. Fully autonomous. The Red Team to your vibe-coding Blue team. Every Claude coder deserves their Shannon. 10.6K GitHub stars. 1.3K forks. Already trending. 100% Open Source. AGPL-3.0 License.
