ideaForge has just drawn Rs 151 crore from the RDI Fund, the ₹1 lakh crore patient-capital pool the Modi government set up last year to rebuild Indian R&D. The fund is writing its first cheques. A few months ago, @SwarajyaMag did an in-depth story about this experiment. 🧵

Investment required to start manufacturing in India: * Textiles & Apparel: ₹10-30 lakh * Food Processing: ₹15-50 lakh * Packaging Products: ₹15-35 lakh * Plastic Products: ₹20-50 lakh * Cleaning & Chemical Products: ₹15-40 lakh * Pharmaceuticals: ₹1-5 crore * Electronics Assembly: ₹20 lakh-₹1 crore * Auto Components: ₹50 lakh-₹5 crore * Furniture Manufacturing: ₹15-40 lakh * Building Materials: ₹30 lakh-₹2 crore * Agro Processing: ₹15-50 lakh * Engineering & Fabrication: ₹25 lakh-₹1 crore The right investment depends on your production capacity, level of automation, and location. But manufacturing in India is far more accessible than most people assume.

I'm beyond excited to announce that I’m joining @Lightspeed as a Partner on the early-stage investing team and helping to build everything they're doing in new media. I've spent the last six years investing in early-stage companies, and the last year building a media platform in parallel. What started as a side quest has reached 350,000 followers and millions of viewers a month. For me, investing and storytelling have always been two halves of the same job. This work has put me in rooms with incredible founders, researchers, and operators - many of whom have become close friends, collaborators, and early stage bets. There's so much happening at the frontier right now, and the media platform has given me a way to be in those conversations early (and to bring the people I admire most into a wider audience). When Lightspeed reached out, we saw the same opportunity. Venture and media are converging, and the next generation of great firms will need to show up differently: reaching founders and builders before they've even started a company, and being the place where people first get excited about what's happening in tech. With more than $50 billion in AUM, Lightspeed has been building alongside founders at the frontier of technology for decades. It's a firm I've admired for years since I started investing - for its intellectual rigor, its long-term conviction, and the way it approaches company building. I’m excited to join a team that brings real depth and substance to its work, and I hope to bring that same ethos to everything I put out. Thank you to @ravi_lsvp, @bsomaia , and @Machiz for believing in this vision and trusting me to help build it. I’m so excited to see what we do together. If you're an early-stage founder, building or thinking about starting something, or just curious about this ecosystem - please reach out. My DMs are open and I’d love to chat!

There's nothing called the third world. It originated during the Cold War to describe countries that were not aligned with either the capitalist West (First World) or the communist bloc (Second World). Because the Soviet Union no longer exists, the "Second World" is gone, making the original classification system defunct. Thank you for your attention to this matter.

So I asked the Infosys AI assistant a basic question because its website says I can ask anything: "How do I restart Windows NT Server 4.0?" The response? It said it doesn't respond to abusive queries. Fair enough. I never knew asking a tech company tech question is abusive. Then I asked, "What was Infosys' shareholding pattern in 1998?" It replied that it didn't have enough information to answer. Fair enough again My next question was, "What was Infosys' net income in 1997?" And it still couldn't figure that out. That's when I realized it's essentially a bot platform trained on a few thousand pages of sales and marketing material. If that's the case, they should define its scope properly. Why would anyone engage with it by asking questions like, "How can Infosys AI transform my business?" Most people wouldn't. And the clientele Infosys typically targets certainly won't. Bots like this are available on almost every decent website today. So why did Infosys need one that can't even retrieve data from its own financial history? That information should already exist somewhere within the company's digital inventory. Any billion-dollar company would have it readily available. This isn't really a criticism of Infosys specifically; it's a reflection of what's happening across much of big IT. If you're not going to invest heavily in LLMs, that's fine. But at least get the value proposition right. @siddarthpaim @_TarunMishra @SumonChakraVIEW @uday_birje @Fintech03 @DivaJain2 @anurag4d @aravind @Probasibangali

Jio Joins Global Tech Elite, Becomes India’s Only Innovator in WIPO Top 20 Jio Platforms has pulled off one of the biggest jumps in global innovation rankings. The technology arm of Reliance Industries Limited climbed 320 spots to enter the World Intellectual Property Organization’s Top 20 patent filers for 2025—becoming the only Indian technology innovator on the list. With patents spanning 5G, 6G, AI and digital infrastructure, Jio now finds itself in the company of global tech heavyweights like Apple, Google, Samsung and Huawei. The milestone underscores a growing reality: India is increasingly becoming a creator of cutting-edge technology, not just a consumer of it. #JioPlatforms #RelianceIndustriesLimited #RIL #AkashAmbani #Innovation #Patents #WIPO #Technology #TechNews #ArtificialIntelligence #5G #6G #DigitalIndia #AtmanirbharBharat #IndianInnovation #DeepTech #FutureTech #MadeInIndia #GlobalInnovation #TechLeadership

A real privilege to join the honourable @narendramodi ji in Nice at the inauguration of Bharat Innovates 2026, along with Minister of Commerce & Industries honourable @PiyushGoyal ji and Principal Scientific Advisor Ajay Kumar Sood ji. The conviction is real and striking: India is becoming a global hub for deep tech, innovation and investment. And it is getting there not by following, but by building things that are genuinely hard. We spoke about the scale of the import substitution opportunity. So much of what India still buys from other countries can be designed and made in India. Every component made in India is a market an Indian founder can win. We have already begun efforts on the hardest problems - designing and building our own jet engines, the kind of deep capability that few nations attempt to build on their own. There is real conviction that India deep tech is now good enough to win global markets, not just our own. We agreed that the single most powerful enabling thing for deep tech founders is to become their first customer. The appetite of the government to buy from young and innovative companies is clear and growing. We also spoke about physical AI and why India is uniquely positioned to head here, given our large talent and manufacturing bases. Looking forward to days 2 and 3 of Bharat Innovates 2026 and what it will spark. @BharatInnov2026 @EduMinOfIndia
