The #Bengals deal for Dexter Lawrence is pending a physical, obviously.
But this is the most out-of-character move by this franchise in a generation.
The urgency and all-in talk this offseason amid years of defensive frustration finally produced a change in philosophy.

Draft week blockbuster: The Giants are trading three-time Pro Bowl defensive tackle Dexter Lawrence to the Bengals in a deal that will include the 10th overall pick going to New York, per ESPN sources.
The Giants now head into Thursday night with the 5th and 10th overall picks.

The Bengals' 3rd round selection is 20 spots higher than the 3rd round selection SF just traded to acquire DT Osa Odighizuwa.
How much better would the Bengals defense be if, in addition to adding Cook & Mafe (both terrific signings), they:
▪️signed Chenal; and
▪️traded for Odighizuwa
...??
They'd be markedly better. Cook and Mafe were an excellent start. Adding Chenal & Odighizuwa would have been additional, fantastic moves to really raise the quality of the defensive personnel.
Both moves (signing Chenal and trading for Osa) were easily achievable.
