Emergency Medical Teams (EMT) represent the best of us, at the worst of times.
They are a vital pillar in the Global Health Emergency Corps. Last year, the EMT Initiative supported the response to many health emergencies, including the conflicts in Gaza and Ukraine, earthquakes in Syria, Türkiye and Morocco, floods in Libya and Malawi, the cyclone and cholera outbreak in Malawi, a mass casualty incident in Armenia, and the complex humanitarian emergency in Sudan, with refugees in Chad and Ethiopia.
The ability to deploy at a moment’s notice comes from years of preparation.
Globally,
@WHO has classified 40 teams from 24 countries, comprising more than 25,000 professionals. We are now in the process of verifying a further 112 teams from 57 countries.
Thank you all once again for your support and solidarity, and for the hope that you provide in some of the most hopeless situations.
