Google got tired of all the vibe coded simulators built on 3d tiles and said - screw it, flight sim on web, free for all - no need to burn api credits. The deeper lore here is that flight sim has long been an easter egg feature exclusive to the legacy earth pro desktop app.
Prepare for takeoff. ✈️ Flight simulator is now available globally on web to all users. goo.gle/4fBYnWO We've recently added many our most powerful professional desktop features to web. Elevation profiles, new import types, but there's always been one other feature you've been asking us to add to the web version of Google Earth, just for fun... Where will you fly? Share your best maneuvers, views, and flyovers with us!

The US government, citing national security authorities, has issued an export control directive to suspend all access to Fable 5 and Mythos 5 by any foreign national, whether inside or outside the United States, including foreign national Anthropic employees. The net effect of this order is that we must abruptly disable Fable 5 and Mythos 5 for all our customers to ensure compliance. Access to all other Claude models is not affected. We apologize for this disruption to our customers. We believe this is a misunderstanding and are working to restore access as soon as possible. Read our full statement: anthropic.com/news/fable-myt…

Quite interesting thread on capabilities of real biological neurons (spoiler: they're way more capable than classical artificial neurons in a perceptron) . Nice work @IdoAizenbud and collaborators!
What can a neuron compute? Real biological neurons are complex, but how capable are they? Using a new method, we found that a single cortical neuron can classify cats vs dogs, recognize spoken words, and solve 10-bit parity, all tasks thought to require entire networks. (1/15)

Left hand: “It’s faster than ever to onboard! I shipped a PR on day one!” Right hand: “I never feel settled on the team. It feels like everyone with context was running past me at the start line and are accelerating faster so I can’t catch up!”

England's opening game is in 6 days time and we all need to prepare... for watching Three Lions games with people of a different generation... We are all going to hear a lot of; "why is Harry Kane dropping so deep?" "He needs to be in the box!" "Lineker didn't do that!" I have prepared a script for you to use in that eventuality... 1) Dad (it is generally Dads)... we have a bit of an Argentina/Messi situation, where our best goalscorer is also our best passer 2) Harry Kane has done this throughout this season. 3) He ended up scoring 61 goals in 51 games in 25/26... he knows what he's doing 4) And... more importantly... Bayern scored 184 goals in 55 games... he was the central pillar of the most devastating attack in Europe... making those he played alongside better! So if he's still dropping deep in the 75th minute with the score at 0-0... can we please not all collectively panic... Back the player that has scored 26 more goals than any other England player IN HISTORY!

In the spirit of enemy indicators in certain video games, we implemented offscreen indicators as a way to signal where other screens and nodes are on the canvas as a nice hint and a way to jump to them. It's so fun stitching @stitchbygoogle!

Today, we released Gemini 3.5 Live Translate, our latest audio model for live speech-to-speech translation. It supports over 70 languages and starts translating as soon as you start talking, streaming translations while listening to what you say next. No awkward pauses or choppy audio, just real connection without language barriers. So, how does it work? 🤔 The model is able to make split-second decisions to juggle speed and translation quality so conversations actually feel fluid, human, and natural. In order to do this, the model must receive and contextualize the input while simultaneously outputting the translated speech. Through this process, Gemini 3.5 Live Translate manages to stay mere seconds behind each speaker and can even maintain pacing, pitch, and intonation across extended sessions. See it in action below, or try it yourself in the Google Translate app on iOS & Android.

We don’t deserve to host this event. There is a new reason on the daily.

Why do these companies do this. There is plenty of $$$!
You cannot make this up: Meta nuked teams like Integrity so bad that services are without oncall coverage 💀 Let me spell it out: it’s more important for Zuck to reassign devs from security/integrity teams to do data labelling than for these teams to have functioning oncalls…

I love it when old and new combine! Groovy was an early love. I remember when James Strachan first showed it to me, and I quickly started to use it as my JVM language. And then today I see @glaforge posting on how he used @stitchbygoogle to redesign the groovy web console! glaforge.dev/posts/2026/05/3…

This is crazy of the UK to do. I’m ashamed of my mother land.
🚨 UK bans Hasan Piker and Cenk Uygur Prominent political streamer Hasan Piker and Young Turks founder Cenk Uygur have both been barred from the United Kingdom, where they were set to attend the South by Southwest festival in London from June 1-6. Both said the bans are direct retaliation for their criticism of Israel. “The UK has revoked my visa at the behest of Israel,” Piker wrote. “The west is betraying ‘liberal values’ for a genocidal fascist foreign government. Soon we will all become Israel,” he added on X. Uygur, who was denied boarding for a flight to attend SXSW London and deliver a speech at Oxford University, wrote: “This is oppression of Western citizens by our own governments on behalf of a different country. Are we free anymore?” Labour MP David Taylor pushed the Home Office to revoke Piker’s visa on the grounds his presence would not be “conducive to the public good” — the MP had previously labeled UN Special Rapporteur Francesca Albanese antisemitic for investigating Israeli war crimes in Gaza. Uygur and his nephew, Piker, have been outspoken critics of Israel’s genocidal assault on Gaza and the systematic rape, torture, and abuse of Palestinian detainees in Israeli prisons.

It makes me sad. Especially when I think “this isn’t the hardest decision you have ever made.”
Every CEO layoff letter in 2026 follows the same template. "Hardest decision I've ever made. AI changed everything. New roles designed for AI-native work. We owe it to our customers. We're choosing to compete." I feel like I'm reading the same letter with different logos
