Great essay. Still waiting for Werner Herzog to find out about the TT
Jun 6
The Isle of Man TT is a death cult on wheels, by James Kingston The Isle of Man’s Tourist Trophy (TT) is the most dangerous motor competition in the world. It has killed more than 270 of its competitors and crippled many more; since the birth of the TT, only two years have gone without fatalities. Formula 1 drivers race upon purpose-built circuits, places provided with run off zones, safety barriers, and specialised road surfaces; the TT has none of these. Reaching top speeds of more than 200 mph, competitors hurtle through country roads, villages, towns, and up a mountain. Read more below ⬇️ buff.ly/oQEAJKt

To settle a troublesome discourse, I have provided here the most faithful and poetic possible translation of the beginning of the Odyssey. We male sex. We complex. We fake horse. We off course. We sail long. We hear song. We pig crew. We home soon.

Refusing to serve Reform supporters in the Braintree Wetherspoons is like turfing people out of Bayreuth for playing Wagner
This is blatant political discrimination. Refusing service simply for supporting Reform UK. Wetherspoon must sack this manager immediately. Pubs are for paying customers, not political gatekeepers. #FarLeftExtremist

Sam Mendes could have made a better Beatles film about Nichol. Member of the group for 10 days at the height of Beatlemania, plays eight concerts with John, Paul and George. Thinks he will be famous, goes bankrupt a year later. Now an obscure local celebrity in Kentish Town.

Immensely evocative image. Perhaps he could name his political movement after such a bundle of sticks, illustrating its strength?
