David Restrepo Amariles (@davidamariles) and Pablo Marcello Baquero, “Promises and limits of law for a human-centric artificial intelligence” (sciencedirect.com/science/ar…)
🥁🥁🥁 Here are the 2023 publications by members of the tech law collaborative research network @law_soc! This is going to be a long thread, so bear with us:
#HECprofs@davidamariles & Srivastava on prediction models applied to #HR:
You have an objective (to hire talents) so you look for the data in your organization to identify what makes/predicts your objective. But you need to be careful about the model design/the data you provide!
Corporates @HECParisExecEd have brainstormed on the important values to develop around AI and data
1. Foresee the changes to avoid collateral damage of AI
2. Choose the kinds of decision to have replaced by AI
3. Be careful of the source of data
4. Find the adequate governance...
What are the limitations of laws and regulations to promote a human-centric AI? Is the human rights toolbox preferable to ethics to harness AI? We discus these and other related questions in our new open access article in the #CLSR@HECKnowledgesciencedirect.com/science/ar…
This should truly push academics to embrace a more holistic perspective and encourage us to address big questions, even when it is unlikely we find any answer!
The Decline in Transformative Science
This trend has been partly reflected in the transition towards “nano economics” -- the thorough investigation of narrow research questions whose results are self-evident at the outset or inconsequential.

Thanks to @Forbes for publishing the highlights of the #transatlantic#dialogue on #AI and to all the fantastic contributors and editors! Is global consensus possible or fragmented regulation inevitable? Is ethics enough? Why are standards important and who should lead them?
At a university, for research in AI, we cannot compete with big tech companies in scale or in speed, but we can for sure compete whose idea/approach is more correct.
Is a #prudentialtest suitable to determine if an automated decision-making system should be used in legal decision-making? We give some thought to this in our new article just published by the @EurJRR with Pedro Fortes and Pablo Baquero @HECKnowledgebit.ly/3tBtJUq
#AI allows to detect a cancer or to predict a car crash, but how do we define common principles across countries and how to embed them into policies, so as to manage #AI risks? Prof @AngRaymond introduces the #TransatlanticAIRegulation's panel on Humanity & Risk Management.
What a great last panel on humanity and risk management!
Really enjoyed attending the Transatlantic Dialogue conference organized by @HECParis@davidamariles
Very inspiring and insightful discussions on humanity and artificial intelligence!
