New Book Alert: On June 7, 2025, we spoke to Sheikh Hasina over the phone. Almost a year had passed since she fled Bangladesh and came to India and we wanted to know what she felt about Bangladesh without her in power. Hasina told us what she thought about the July Revolution and Bangladesh under Muhammad Yunus. We also spoke to her ministers, members of her security detail, and officers in Bangladeshi military intelligence still loyal to her who helped @joyincal09 recreate the scenes inside Haina's official residence on the day she left. We also spoke to Hasina's political opponents who told us why she had it coming for a long time. But our book is not about Hasina, her mistakes or her political future. 'Inshallah Bangladesh' is about the extraordinary events of 2024 that changed the lives of Bangladesh's ordinary people. Like my co-author @SahidulKhokonbd who became an anti-national for writing against radical Islam and had to run for his life, and the 266 other journalists like him implicated in various cases. It is about young women who are afraid of playing football, and Sufis who watch helplessly as their mazars are pulled down, and Hindus who are trying to get used to hearing open calls of genocide. And young military officers trying to make sense of a General's betrayal. The book is also about past fissures shaping present politics. About stories that are not published. Like a dystopian novel about Sheikh Mujib finding currency after Hasina's fall. About the call for a Hindu homeland that is as old as the call for Bangladesh. About atheist bloggers once forced out of Bangladesh returning to save Bangladesh's soul. If the July Revolution promised a New Bangladesh, our book examines why the students' party that emerged from it is already so unpopular. Inshallah Bangladesh is the story of an unfinished revolution that did not begin in 2024. @swatichopra1 @juggernautbooks Here's the preorder link: tinyurl.com/3ebxb947

Rubio’s remarks were tone deaf and will further inflame anti-US sentiment. He didn’t even express condolences for India’s loss of life! Some “friend” Trump’s America is to India. hindustantimes.com/india-new…

Iran’s semi-official Fars News Agency said on Saturday that Iranian officials would not allow any nuclear agreement with the U.S to be signed on Sunday, which coincides with U.S. President Donald Trump’s birthday, suggesting some observers believed Trump may seek to use the occasion as a symbolic and promotional event. Fars said Iranian negotiators were aware of what it described as the “hidden layers” behind such a move and cited officials’ repeated statements that no final agreement had yet been reached.

When elected governments are subjected to harsher standards than authoritarian regimes, the consequences can be catastrophic. That was the fatal error many Western observers made with Mao. Fantastic column by @UtpalKhan1. firstpost.com/opinion/mao-le…

During the equally bad return journey ystd I pondered & reached a hypothesis- tourists behave exceedingly bad in India cause Indians still tend to live a very very repressed lives. Holidays become everyone's excuse to just let go completely, and the first thing to go is manners!
I'm currently on the Nilgiri mountain railway going from Coonoor to Udagamandalam. And all I can think about is not the beautiful views outside, but how much etiquette & public behaviour training our desi tourists need while travelling 🤦🙄 Make me dictator to fix this problem!💪

Theoretically @INCIndia had the best opportunity to occupy the Opposition space after #BJP's #WestBengal win. A few days ago, I met a very senior Congressman, he ruled out the possibility. "Look at the PCC President. They chose someone who is not even eligible to be a corporator," he told me detailing how the party organisation was destroyed brick by brick over the last 30-40 years. A young worker present outlined how #RahulGandhi fast forwarded the decline. The irony is, those incompetent leaders try to find holes in BJP's winning run.
Suvendhu Adhikary has created a “Shadow Opposition” of MLAs who BJP has accused of massive corruption. In their lust for Power BJP is infact abetting Corruption. - Subhankar Sarkar, Bengal PCC President.

At such times of existential crisis for her party, perhaps it is natural for Mamata Banerjee to do everything that would put the BJP in an embarrassing political situation. But she shouldn't have spoken about Osman Hadi. I write for @ThePrintIndia theprint.in/opinion/mamata-b…

Rebel #Trinamool MPs, MLAs and resigning leaders are grabbing the headlines. But the more consequential story may be unfolding far from the TV cameras. #RajeevKumar’s absence from Mamata Banerjee’s side since May 4 comes at a curious moment. The former Kolkata Police Commissioner and DGP, for whom Mamata once sat on a dharna against the CBI, has long been regarded as one of her most trusted confidants. Immediately after retirement, he was rewarded with a Rajya Sabha berth too. Meanwhile, inside Nabanna, officers are seeking exits, waiting for central deputation to be approved, sensitive files are under review, old equations are changing and sections of the bureaucracy appear to be preparing for a new political reality. The real ‘de-Trinamoolisation’ of Bengal may not be happening inside the party only, but in the power corridors as well. Read here :

PRIME MINISTER’S OFFICE ORDERS ACTION IN THE DEATH CASE OF WEST BENGAL ACTOR RAHUL ARUNODOY BANERJEE Acting on the representation submitted by the All Indian Cine Workers Association (AICWA) President Suresh Shyamlal Gupta, the Prime Minister’s Office has taken cognizance of the tragic death of West Bengal actor Rahul Arunodoy Banerjee and directed the Odisha Chief Minister’s Office and the Chief Secretary of Odisha to examine the matter and take appropriate action. AICWA had demanded a Special Investigation Team (SIT) probe into the incident and strict enforcement of safety regulations after Rahul Arunodoy Banerjee lost his life during the shooting of the television serial “Bhole Baba Paar Karega”. AICWA has alleged that serious safety violations and negligence on the set contributed to the tragic incident. The association has demanded registration of an FIR and strict legal action against producer Leena Gangopadhyay, production house Magic Moments Motion Pictures, including Saibal Banerjee, and all other persons connected with the production. Following the directions issued through the official grievance mechanism, the matter was forwarded by the Odisha Government to the Superintendent of Police, Balasore, for necessary action and investigation. AICWA further states that strict action in this case is necessary to ensure that no producer, production house, broadcaster, or any other entity dares to commence shooting activities in the future without implementing mandatory safety measures. The Association believes that the lives of workers, technicians, junior artists, and actors cannot be put at risk due to negligence or disregard for safety regulations. AICWA has therefore urged the authorities to conduct a thorough investigation into the role of producer Leena Gangopadhyay, Magic Moments Motion Pictures, including Saibal Banerjee, and all other persons connected with the production. The Association has specifically demanded that murder charges and all other applicable criminal provisions be invoked against producer Leena Gangopadhyay, Magic Moments Motion Pictures, including Saibal Banerjee, and all other persons connected with the production, and that strict legal action be taken against them. AICWA has further demanded that Magic Moments Motion Pictures be blacklisted and barred from future productions, so that such tragedies are not repeated in the Indian film and television industry. AICWA continues to demand a high-level SIT investigation, accountability of all responsible persons, and strict implementation of safety regulations across the Indian film and television industry. Justice for Rahul Arunodoy Banerjee cannot be delayed. Those responsible for safety violations must be held accountable under the law. NO WORKER, TECHNICIAN OR ARTIST SHOULD LOSE HIS OR HER LIFE DUE TO NEGLIGENCE ON A SHOOTING SET. | #AICWA | #AllIndianCineWorkersAssociation | #RahulBanerjee | #RahulArunodoyBanerjee | #WestBengal | @narendramodi | @narendramodi_in | @PMOIndia | @AmitShah | @HMOIndia | @MohanMOdisha | @SuvenduWB | @CMO_Odisha | @odisha_police | @ANI | @PTI_News | @ians_india | @WBPolice |

Thirty seven claims of a peace deal with Iran match about equally with 37 claims of it being roundly defeated… Figure out the myth or reality in Trumpverse
Iran’s Military is a complete and total mess. Much of it, like their Navy and Air Force, doesn’t even exist anymore - They have been completely defeated. Iran is all talk and no action. The Bully of the Middle East is DEAD!!! They’ve taken too long to negotiate a deal that would have been great for them, now they will have to pay the price!!! President DONALD J. TRUMP
