Curtis Yarvin believes the US should surrender Europe to Russia. Remember, this is the fellow funded and backed by those tech billionaire “job creators” close to Trump.

Scandalised by this @CFR_org "climate realism" initiative. Rarely does one see such a blunt expression of morally bankrupt FYIGM thinking from a mainstream -even "left leaning" - US organization. Is this what we've come to now? Let's break it down:🧵cfr.org/article/our-approach…

A tricky thing about modern society is that no one has any idea when they don’t die. Like, the number of lives saved by controlling air pollution in America is probably over 200k/year, but the number of people who think their life was saved by controlling air pollution is zero.

Well you thought *that* was dystopian - "thank me more" bullying of Zelensky from Trump and Vance was pathetic... and alarming.
Putin praising Trump for showing restraint in the face of his "allies that have behaved rudely towards him" and that "interfered in the US election" is pretty peak dystopian. This is where we are now?

The @independent's take on Newfoundland once again hosting a stranded flight (remember Come from Away?) has raised some eyebrows here. As an ex-pat Brit facing 10-15cm of snow and 70 knot winds now "freezing island" seems kinda fair. independent.co.uk/travel/new…

Having spent 15 years here I have to step away for a while. Despite still hearing smart voices here and my wish to influence policy, having to witness the Trump regime's open venality, cruelty and bullying is too painful. I'll be back when evidence based decision making returns.
Trump is not simply breaking domestic and international law - he is boasting about it openly. He no longer even pretends to hide his contempt for the Rule of Law….

It's hard to imagine how the coming battle between Trumpists, courts and science will play out. Can judges somehow ensure ludicrous "disclaimers" like these are removed? Could they require independent scientists to fact check and publish alongside them? cdc.gov/yrbs/index.html

Yeah. I think people on the far left need to do a better job of wrestling with the fact that, while it’s true USAID is an essential arm of American soft power and therefor empire, the way it worked for the most part was feeding and clothing millions of people.

Replying to @SteveZaloga
@SteveZaloga @WeHaveWaysPod listening to your tanks episode and puzzled by the idea that the need to ship vehicles added a 4-5 month delay to the introduction of American tank models in WWII. How so? Even with loading/unloading - crossing Atlantic itself took < 2 weeks, no?

And can you add more about the US military idea that a longer 76mm gun on a tank would "stick into the ground" - under what circumstances could that happen?! Would the initial proposed longer gun have performed like a 17 pounder?

Amazing decision by US Department of Justice to let NY Mayor Adams off corruption charges so he can better serve Trump's anti-immigration crusade - at least they're open about this having nothing to do with the merits of the case.

SCOOP: The US Treasury claimed a DOGE's Marco Elez didn’t have ‘write access,’ when he actually did. Sources tell WIRED that his ability to alter code controlling trillions in federal spending was rescinded, days after officials said it didn't exist. wired.trib.al/CzBAk9b

OK, so it doesn’t matter what actual steps you’re taking or proposing - trying to address climate change or working towards “solidarity, and equality” is officially against American policy and “very bad”. Who is running a satanic cult now?!
I will NOT attend the G20 summit in Johannesburg. South Africa is doing very bad things. Expropriating private property. Using G20 to promote “solidarity, equality, & sustainability.” In other words: DEI and climate change. My job is to advance America’s national interests, not waste taxpayer money or coddle anti-Americanism.

Can't make this up - one of the first #ProjectStargate AI data centre plans is #ProjectLudicrous. Fascinating to see the ingenious ways Crusoe #greenwashes this as a negative emissions project. Would love to see @NatBullard or @shaylekann weigh in on this thread

I still worry there's probably a limited supply of renewable energy builders and installers in Texas and I would rather they were building renewables connected to a regional grid that would help decarbonise existing industries.. But maybe AI will just solve all our problems so 🤷‍♂️
