Social biases allow us to feel like we can treat human beings like they have lesser meaning & value than we or institutions do. #Xdissenter#LOVEisTheKey
with all these crises all at once, it's hard to prioritize which is the most important. Or so you'd think. They are all very important. They are all VERY important!. But bottomline is without this planet earth.... *we will every one of us die*. So let's work on that, shall we?
The Assembly of Treaty Chiefs in Alberta is calling on the RCMP and the Auditor General to investigate whether Premier Danielle Smith and the UCP government have committed treason under the criminal code. It's over the premier's handling of a referendum on separation.

The United States is such a decrepit, barbaric country that not even hosting a World Cup can stop it from behaving like one.
What should be a celebration of international sport has already been overshadowed by intimidation and immigration crackdowns.
ICE agents are threatening to be deployed outside stadiums. Somali referee Omar Abdulkadir Artan was denied entry despite being selected by FIFA to officiate. Senegalese players have reportedly been subjected to additional searches and scrutiny. Iranian officials and staff have faced visa restrictions and travel obstacles, with their players not being allowed to stay in the US, having to travel back and forth from Mexico.
The World Cup is supposed to bring nations together. Instead, the host nation has turned it into another stage for their western exceptionalism and political posturing over immigration.
For all the rhetoric about freedom and democracy, the United States cannot even host the world's biggest sporting event without treating visitors as potential threats. What should be treated as guest fans are seen as potential threats to the country.
Such is the shaky position that the imperialism stands it has to consistently flex it's muscles.
Sport should unite people. Imperial arrogance turns everything it touches into a political spectacle.
Right now, I want to thank God for those generals, those leaders in uniform that said, no, we will not do it.

π°With $1 trillion, Musk could give $100 to everyone on Earth, and he would still be one of the ten richest billionaires in the world, with more than $184 billion left over.π€―
βA trillion dollars in the hands of one man is incompatible not only with an affordable economy, but also with a healthy democracy. Economic inequality begets political inequality, and ordinary people bear the brunt while billionaires continue to write the rules for their own benefit,β said said Nabil Ahmed, senior director of economic justice at Oxfam America. #taxthesuperrich

"Our problem is that Judaism today has for some groups become an ideology of genocide. We need to face that now; any moral understanding of Judaism needs an immediate response to that. Are you working to stop the genocide? And what are you doing to stop it?" asks philosopher Elad Lapidot in his interview, When Jewishness Means Genocide for @JewishCurrents

The world is about to create its first trillionaire before it guarantees clean water, food, housing, and healthcare for everyone.
We live in a world wealthy enough to create trillionaires, yet millions of people still go without basic human necessities. That's not a failure of resources, it's a failure of priorities.
What a messed up world. π
At a time when overdoses are escalating, shutting down life-saving services is not just inhumane, it is a violent choice.
The government's war on drugs is making a deadly crisis worse by attacking the very measures that save lives.

FIFA has always been a way for capitalists to gain profit from a global community of sports fans, wrapped in nationalist sentiments β where anyone could support any country or team based on that, given that sporting events (domestically and internationally) are political.
This is a long story, and I probably should have written it before. Years ago, I adopted a cat named Brian. He was, according to his craigslist ad, a handful already. He had WARNINGS. Anyway, little fucker loved me, and I loved him, we had no issues BUT he WOULD fight others. 1/5
Since some AB people want to secede to US, can we compare oil rich Texas to AB? What is the % of people/poverty line? Alberta 9.4% to 11% of its pop, while Texas has 13.7%. How would that change if AB's people didn't have Cdn benefits?

Texas is a known REP state and a powerhouse for the party. Would AB be? Not likely so they wouldn't get the benefit of nat'l support they think they would.
@Reil76 What do you think of this comparison?
Considering how specialized education is today, the fit go into 911/military services first. What happens if they're injured though? What if a PHD candidate goes high & picks an obscure topic ie fertility of a bee? Hope they have $$ for a bee farm if their thesis is refused.
Many women live under a "hidden curfew" β not one imposed by law, but by the need to constantly assess personal safety. It shapes everyday decisions:
#Grill#Bake#Fry The tools and knowledge are the same. You prepare the rub or sauce. You test the tools to be sure the heat is consistent. You have your thermometer ready. You chop a few veg for a side. And watch it. See? Men can make supper too! #weaponizedincompetence
