@JoyceCarolOates Further into the the book, the thing that is so striking is the pure genre velocity, suspense, and economy, combined with razor sharp prose precision, and a deeply disturbing psychological plausibility of characterization. Total command of the form.

And that ending? As skillful and satisfying as any I can imagine. KO in the 10th. The structure of the book locks completely into place in retrospect. The best endings are able to make perfect sense (can't be random) without being obvious or trite. Bravo.

And if Mamdani isn't to your liking, Lander and Adrienne Adams are perfectly competent candidates who would do a good job. Lander is my top choice.

Well, yet again my preferred candidate has lost and I will roll with it. I'm used to this by now. I hope Lander continues to do good work. I like his approach.

These extraordinarily brave Gazans are protesting both against Hamas and the Netanyahu/Smotrich/Ben-Gvir war plan. Incidentally, this puts them in agreement with the large majority of Israelis, who also oppose both, and want an end to the war in exchange for the hostages.
Gazans held several spontaneous protests with dozens calling for an end to the war, according to local reports, including chanting anti-Hamas slogans, including "Stop the war and the expulsion," and "Hamas, out, out." jpost.com/breaking-news/arti…

The thing that frightens me about this isn't that kids aren't learning to write, per se. It's that learning how to write also teaches you how to think, and the downstream problems presented by a population who can't think are actually scary. nymag.com/intelligencer/arti…

Hate NYC and California all you want. Revel in your hate. Savor it. Relish it. Talk about it online. Without them the country doesn’t exist. Within a few years the economy collapses. The charity we pump into red states via taxes evaporates.
I don’t think Democrats grasp how many Americans hate the idea of New York City.

Gluttony is what flyover country does with our tax dollars. It’s pretty sad tbh. Maybe one day we’ll stop giving away our money to ungrateful republicans. We will only tolerate so much hatred before we stop being so generous to those that hate us so much.

Liking Seinfeld’s banter should not be confused w/ liking NYC or the gluttony it represents. Rich people w/ 4 sheepskins on the wall like NYC. It’s power & excess to a lot of people - like Washington is. This is how Dems miss populism. It’s not a math problem; it’s a skepticism.

⁦@BrettRedacted⁩ 1 thing I would add to is the use of music. The way the mournful submerged minimalist ambient score creates a subliminal physicality. How it subtly informs the audience re the pervasive heaviness of mind/body underlying the humor. podcasts.apple.com/us/podcas…

Yep. This whole thing is about equal treatment under the law. The thing we undermined when we let a felon escape legal consequences, become president, and pardon his thug insurrection squad. Should not have gone down this path.

The important thing to note here: ā€œInternet starā€. This is the disease that got us trump. This toxic fusion of showbiz and politics. Attention seekers who use politics as a way to….get attention. This is not public service. This is a vanity project. Ego gratification.

She’s a lefty 26-year-old internet star. Her primary opponent is 80. Can @KatAbughazaleh's Congressional campaign provide a jolt the Democrats need? gq.visitlink.me/qgwOEL

The media demanded Biden personally solve a shortage of baby food formula and kept after him for weeks about it while Trump's FDA isn't even bothering to warn people about E. coli outbreaks and it won't even be a story by tomorrow.

I voted for Vice President Kamala Harris, so none of this is on me. You don't get to be angry if you didn't vote for Vice President Kamala Harris. Everyone knew what was at stake, and people still voted for how they wanted regardless of all the warning signs we saw and heard.

And it is objectively true that we told you it would be bad. And it is. Really bad. A complete disaster, in fact. So, yes, we literally TOLD YOU SO. I'm sorry you can't accept that. WE TOLD YOU SO, in hopes that you would pull your head out of your a**. Vain hope, sadly.

They all love Walz now. Supposedly. But only for the moment, because he criticized Harris. Guess what? Walz believes Israel should continue to exist. He's not your guy. He's a mainstream Dem. Folksy, but mainstream. You hate mainstream Dems. Be honest.
