In the global development space, the focus on empowering girls is vital and must continue. But research shows the
#boy child also faces unique vulnerabilities that, if ignored, can have long-term consequences for families and communities.
In 2020, UNESCO reported that of the 259 million children and youth out of school worldwide, 132 million were boys, and
#boys were more likely to repeat primary grades in 130 out of 142 countries (UNESCO, 2020).
Supporting boys doesn’t take away from girls’ empowerment, it strengthens it. Healthy, educated, emotionally balanced boys grow into men who are better partners, fathers, and community leaders.
The call is simple: Let’s give boys the same intentional mentorship, emotional support, and opportunities to dream that we fight for girls to have. A truly equal future demands it.
