The war in Ukraine continues to devastate children’s lives. This new @UNICEF-supported centre offers learning, play, social connection and psychosocial support — helping restore a sense of normalcy. Above all, children in Ukraine need peace.

I spoke to Iran’s Foreign Minister @araghchi about the latest escalation in the Gulf and the state of negotiations with the US. I’ve also been in touch with the Kuwaiti Foreign Minister Sheikh Jarrah Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah. The resumed attacks on the Gulf countries and their critical infrastructure are unacceptable. A return to full-scale war would come at a tremendous cost to the entire region. The diplomatic route remains the best path out of this war.

Today, I spoke with His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, to express the EU’s full solidarity with Bahrain following the latest attacks by Iran. These unjustified attacks by Iran continue to risk further destabilising the region and must stop. The EU urgently calls for de-escalation and for all parties to remain engaged on the diplomatic track. The EU will continue to support Bahrain, also in its capacity as the current Presidency of the Gulf Cooperation Council and as a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council.
