Highly recommend working with Joe and team. I learned a lot.
2026 is a fun time to build! We’re looking to hire more top talent: 1) Social media writer - Help us win the war of ideas. You are an X-native patriot, intuit its molecular physics, write with a real voice, and care more about teaching and inspiring than chasing clicks. 2) Technical builder - we have a running list of media-adjacent companies and tools I've wanted to create for years. You build with AI tools daily, push the limits of what's newly possible, and are committed to the ideas that make our civilization great. Email BuildWithJoe@8vc.com to apply; we’re only considering full-time hires with integrity who are eager to work hard. America turns 250 this year, and it’s a great time to celebrate our exceptional civilization. Help us teach and build with ideas and principles to unite and inspire us all to make its next chapters even brighter 🇺🇸.

appreciation notes because theyre wonderfully modest and folks don’t see all they’ve done behind the scenes. 1). @gjurvetson has been an important convener for a while now. Her judgment on psychedelic policies and players is second to none. She is my goto authority on credibility
There are moments when you can feel the ground shift. This was one of them. A real path to healing is opening for people who have waited far too long. Grateful to @POTUS and @SecKennedy for the courage to lead on this, and deeply honored to be in the Oval Office for this moment. It’s hard to put into words my gratitude to @joerogan and @w_bryan_hubbard. Their relentless support, compassion, and conviction helped carry this across the finish line. Hope just became real for so many families.

3). @w_bryan_hubbard ‘s enthusiasm is truely a marvel in the field. There are a lot folks enthusiastic about psychedelics. It’s risky to be overly enthusiastic about any treatment, yet Bryan just pushed through with unrelenting optimism. It inspired many, including @joerogan

4. I’m leaving full time work on psychedelics policy, but learned a lot watching @gjurvetson and @w_bryan_hubbard up close. Forceful optimism combined with deep expertise is powerful. I sometimes feel safer in self doubt and overly cautious language but it doesn’t inspire.

AI has transformed travel in the best way. I’m walking through Rome, snapping pictures for tailored commentary through @ChatGPTapp , while giving instructions to @OpenAICodexCli through terminus on a project. A sunny stroll while being productive.

1. This is a (very) small @NellieBowles appreciation thread. She is one of my favorite writers. Too little has been written about the executives @TheFP and how they built one of the most successful modern news properties

4). i think journalism isn’t supposed to be “objective”, it’s meant to be part of Democracy. @NellieBowles represents a lot of us who became conservative-curious partly because the left changed (a lot) in strange ways. She chronicles this shift in really entertaining ways in TGIF

5). It’s not too often that changing your mind is rewarded in either politics or journalism. Nellie chronicled her shift in very public ways (i just quit the profession). It’s nice to see that kind of honesty and humor become the basis of a wildly successful media organization.

1). The first study on outcomes of participants using psilocybin in Oregon’s legal market is out. Funded by @gjurvetson @FutureJurvetson . The preliminary results are very good

read the comments. pretty much anyone who knows anything meaningful about @regardthefrost is glad he’s taking on more responsibility at HHS.

A senior government advisor has made a pretty obscure reference to Star Trek the next generation and it’s delightful. Trekies are in the white house.
Disagree with this recent trend attributing human emotions and motivations to LLMs (“a reward”). This leads us down the path of doomerism and fear over AI. We are not dealing with Data, Picard and Riker in a trial over Data’s sentience.

Im quoted in this as being cautiously optimistic about HHS’s ability to approve psychedelic medcinces. It wont be easy but the new leadership team is one of the best i could hope for. nice reporting @AP_FDAwriter
For decades, proponents of psychedelic drugs have come to Washington with a provocative message: mind-altering substances like LSD and MDMA should be approved for medical use. A presidential administration finally seems to agree. apnews.com/article/psychedel…

Fascinating account of psychedelic treatment of PTSD at 1:36:40 from the dude who killed Osama bin Laden. The whole interview is remarkable. It's unimaginable what this guy has seen and experienced.

New double blind study on nasal ketamine twice weekly for a month. Large drop in depression. 80mg of ketamine is no joke. that’ll keep you in your seat. Still only about half in placebo group “strongly” believed they got placebo.
Esketamine nasal spray as a monotherapy improved depressive symptoms in treatment-resistant depression (TRD) compared to placebo. ja.ma/3ZYkZIv

new data from Atai’s 5-MEO psychedelic; its one of the most promising i’ve seen. it seems both short-acting and profound. This makes it much more affordable and potentially a crucial option for patients who are treatment resistant, even to other psychedelics
Today, $ATAI announced outstanding Phase 2b data for BPL-003 (5-MeO-DMT). In parallel, core shareholders – including myself and pharma company @ferring – demonstrated conviction by investing $50 million together with top-tier biotech funds. I firmly believe psychedelics have the potential to heal millions and fundamentally transform mental health treatment. In doing so, they will make a deep, positive dent in the universe. Especially in the times ahead, we humans need psychedelics more than ever. My hope is for @atai_life to lead this revolution – scientifically, commercially, and spiritually. atai is the greatest entrepreneurial endeavour of my life, and I believe it will yield rich returns – both financial and emotional – for everyone involved. On the one hand, this is an incredible statement by secretary Kennedy about psychedelic therapy. On the other hand, this adorably bored child behind @DanCrenshawTX really stole the show.
Psychedelic therapies show real promise for veterans and others battling trauma. We’re accelerating clinical trials at @US_FDA with urgency—and working to ensure safe, science-based access within 12 months. Some therapies can’t wait.
