It’s impossible to be at the Rafah crossing & not feel heartbroken.
Behind these walls there are 2 million people in Gaza with no water, food, medicine, fuel.
On this side, these trucks have what they need.
We need to make them move—as soon as possible, as many as necessary.

thinking about bourdain’s episode in palestine today. CNN almost didn’t air it but he fought like hell to keep the episode and share their stories since mainstream media so rarely gave the opportunity to empathize with the every day of palestinians.

My thoughts are with Rasha, Mahmoud & whole @MedicalAidPal team in #Gaza, who are struggling to help civilians in desperate circumstances.
I worry for Drs & Nurses we work with on our #BreastCancer project, as many can’t abandon their patients in #ShifaHospital in #GazaCity.

An update from @MedicalAidPal's Gaza team this morning: Since Israel's illegal evacuation order yesterday, shelters in the middle area and south are overflowing. Many have no food, no water, no mattresses or blankets, no functioning toilets

It must be noted when covering this that Israel carried out these air strikes on an evacuation route it said was safe for civilians to use. This is proof that Israel is purposefully targeting civilians, as it always has. I cannot believe this needs to be explained.

I think of disabled people in conflicts. There are people in Gaza right now who need electricity to breathe or move. There are people who physically can’t make the long arduous journey to possible safety. Telling disabled people “24 hours to leave” is telling them to die.

I also met with Palestinian leaders from different faiths today. They want peace & they want the life of a Palestinian to be equal to the life of an Israeli.
I gave them my assurance that @scotgov will continue to call for a ceasefire and a humanitarian corridor to be opened.

He said the loss of innocent lives in both Israel and Gaza is catastrophic and cannot be justified.

Rest in Power Reuters cameraman and journalist, Issam Abdullah, killed in the last hour by Israeli bombing in the south of Lebanon. He was surrounded by cameras & other journalists, wearing press vests, who have also been injured. Is this Israeli self-defence too?!
