Delighted that 3 of our very brave officers were recognised last night at the National Bravery award. As it says bittersweet recognition but quite right that they are acknowledged for their exceptional actions when faced with such adversity. We are all incredibly proud of them.
Last night three extraordinary officers, were honoured with the National Police Bravery Award 2025 for their courageous response to the horrific Southport attack. Sergeant Gregory Gillespie, Constable Luke Holden, and PCSO Timothy Parry were first on the scene on 29th July 2024 and faced with unimaginable horror. They responded with instinctive courage, composure, and professionalism. Despite the chaos and fear they faced, they bravely confronted the violent attacker. They protected innocent lives without hesitation and with no thought for their own safety. There is no doubt that their bravery and quick thinking, prevented further tragedy that day. While the award is a bittersweet recognition, it stands as a powerful reminder of the courage and commitment shown by those who protect our communities. Congratulations to Sergeant Gillespie, Constable Holden and PCSO Parry, who also achieved overall regional winners on the night too. You are a credit to our force and we are incredibly proud of you. As always, our thoughts remain with the Alice, Bebe and Elsie, their families, and everyone affected by that devastating day ♥️ (Photo credit: Anderson Photography)”

After a firearms incident today when a male was seriously injured, PD Theo was asked to help out. He covered a huge area which would have taken humans days to search in just over an hour, and located several pieces of evidence integral to the investigation. Fantastic work Theo!

Uniting Councillors across the region to focus on building a safer, stronger Merseyside 💚 Local Councillors are integral to helping protect our communities. They know what their residents need and by brining people from @lpoolcouncil @WirralCouncil @seftoncouncil @sthelenscouncil @KnowsleyCouncil together with @MerseyPolice means we can build stronger partnerships to tackle some of those local crime issues our communities are facing 👏

Did you know that firearms like the ones pictured below are now illegal? Top-venting blank firers (TVBFs) are designed to discharge only blank cartridges but can be easily converted into viable & dangerous firearms. Hand in a weapon before 28 Feb ➡️ orlo.uk/yuP4v

"Everyone recognised we've got a joint responsibility to drive down violence." Two weeks ago we held our very first conference to show the impact of prevention - in our first five years we've made 1️⃣2️⃣0️⃣,0️⃣0️⃣0️⃣ interventions, & seen a 2️⃣3️⃣% drop in serious violence. Our Director, Supt Georgie Garvey tells us by coming together we can all help to improve on those numbers, preventing more young people from becoming impacted by serious violence.

That's a wrap on our first showcase conference ‘Driving Change: The Impact of Prevention’ 👏 Over the years we’ve worked with so many amazing individuals and organisations who are absolutely committed to reducing harm, supporting young people and their families and tackling the root causes of violence. This event was about providing a platform to showcase the difference they are making ✨ We’d like to thank all of our guest speakers and professionals for their attendance and providing such valuable insight & great discussions around how we can collectively prevent serious violence in our region 💜
