DME Kerala assured to implement the Duty rules.
On May 2, DME Kerala organised an online meeting. UDF was invited by the Directorate of Medical Education to offer views on long duty hours of resident doctors. Representatives from various medical colleges , directorate of medical education and UDF attended the meeting. UDF explained about non implementation of 1992 rules including BHU In UP, Indore in MP and many cities of Maharashtra as well in some cities of Andhra and Kerala too. The DME assured to take proper action soon.
This was the success for UDF and recognition for its continuous efforts for the welfare of resident doctors.
UDF representative suggested various measures to mitigate the sufferings of resident doctors and wide consultations were held between participants.

The Uniform residency scheme 1992 is applied to all medical colleges on paper. But most of them are forging duty roster. Any JR not interested in excessive duty can demand work to rule.
