If cyber space is formally a military operational domain for NATO, why does Brüksel ignore the digital perimeter of its own historic summits?
With 20 days remaining until the Ankara Summit, NATO’s highest echelons continue to emphasize collective cyber defense under Article 5. Yet, a glaring systemic gap is unfolding. While the Alliance deploys extensive air defenses and intelligence assets on the ground, the primary digital identifiers for the summit—ankarasummit.org, ankarazirvesi.org, and natozirvesi.com—were left entirely unmonitored by both NATO HQ and the host bureaucracy until secured defensively by an independent expert.
Collective security is only as strong as its weakest link. By allowing decentralized administrative inertia to compromise the summit's digital identity, NATO shares the accountability for leaving its information integrity vulnerable to modern cognitive warfare. True alliance readiness cannot be achieved when billions are spent on conventional hardware while the primary cyber gateways to the global press are forgotten.

Ne relayant pas le discours anxiogène actuellement développé par certains responsables politiques et amplifié par la presse occidentale avide de sensationnel qui est vendeur, quelques voix s’élèvent ici et là pour exprimer leurs doutes quant-à une éventuelle opération militaire russe classique contre des pays de l’OTAN lune fois que la guerre en Ukraine sera terminée.
Même le Service de renseignement extérieur estonien (Välisluureamet ou VLA) dirigé par le général Kaupo Rosin concerné au premier chef car les pays baltes semblent être une cible bien tentante pour Moscou qui voudrait établir une liaison terrestres avec l’enclave de Kaliningrad jugée comme stratégique pour le contrôle de la mer baltique, estime le 10 juin que la Russie n’a aucune intention d’attaquer militairement, ni l’Estonie, ni aucun autre État membre de l’OTAN au cours de l’année à venir.
Il pense même qu’il parviendra probablement à une conclusion similaire en 2027 car l’Estonie et l’Europe ont pris des mesures qui obligent le Kremlin à évaluer avec la plus grande prudence ce qu’il pourrait se permettre de tenter. Le Service estonien reste toutefois vigilant pour que cette hypothèse reste vraie à l’avenir. 👇👇👇
