The great temples and monuments of
#AncientEgypt continue to fascinate and amaze people in the modern day, but what you might not know is that they invented many of the items that we now take for granted. Paper and ink, cosmetics, the toothbrush and toothpaste, even the ancestor of the modern breath mint, were all invented by the
#AncientEgyptians. Additionally, they made advances in almost every sphere of knowledge from the manufacture of simple household goods to beer brewing, engineering and construction, to agriculture and architecture, medicine, astronomy, art and literature.
The sheer size and scope of awe-inspiring
#AncientStructures like the
#GreatPyramid at
#Giza or the
#TempleofAmun at
#Karnak or the
#ColossiofMemnon showcase the technological skill of their
#AncientCivilization. Egyptian
#obelisks seem to have always involved the exact same precise procedure, revealing how meticulously they planned these grand architectural projects.
But the
#Egyptians were innovating on smaller scale too. For example, toothbrushes and toothpaste (made from rock salt, mint, dried iris petals, and pepper, according to one 4th Century BCE recipe) were invented because of the grit and sand which found its way into the bread and vegetables of the daily meals.
