On Loving Day, we honor Richard & Mildred Loving, whose defiance of Virginia’s anti-miscegenation laws led to the 1967 Supreme Court ruling that freed interracial couples to marry. Their undeniable love reflects the truth that we are all unique individuals, united by our shared humanity. Learn how the Prohuman Foundation continues to advance that truth at prohumanfoundation.org. #LovingDay #BeProhuman

Robert Smalls embodied humanity by risking everything to secure freedom for himself and others, heroically commandeering a Confederate ship in 1862 to escape slavery with his family and 15 fellow enslaved people. Later, as a U.S. Congressman, he pushed to expand access to education for freed people. Humanity is one of the nine character strengths we highlight through stories of heroes like Smalls in our K-12 Prohuman Curriculum. Driven by her own experience with poverty and discrimination, Mary McLeod Bethune showed deep compassion for her students at the Daytona Literary and Industrial School, which she founded in 1904. Providing both academic instruction and practical training equipped her students for independence. Beyond the classroom, she worked tirelessly alongside them, sharing in their labor and fostering a sense of dignity and community, a practice reflected in her hands-on leadership and the loyalty she inspired. In nurturing their growth, she built a foundation for their future and the broader uplift of the Jim-Crow era black community. Compassion is one of the nine character strengths we highlight through stories of heroes like Bethune in our K-12 Prohuman Curriculum. "It is not slavery, which has existed practically everywhere, but American ideals and the American legacy of anti-slavery that make America unique. These ideals and this legacy are our birthright. They are what we celebrate on the Fourth of July." Amid patriotic expressions and time spent relaxing and reflecting with loved ones, join us in celebrating #JulyFourth with this #prohuman perspective by @prohuman_org advisor Jake Mackey, via @freeblckthought: freeblackthought.substack.co… #4th #FourthofJuly #BeProhuman
