JLP Government Senators voted NO to helping Hurricane Melissa victims rebuild.
Senator Floyd Morris, Opposition Spokesperson on Housing, proposed amendments to the NHT Bill that would have:
- Ring-fenced NHT funds ONLY for rebuilding homes destroyed in St. Elizabeth, Westmoreland, Hanover & St. James
- Limited further annual NHT extractions to 2 years, ending March 2028, instead of 5 more years to 2031
Government Senators voted both amendments down. Again.
Over 20,000 homes destroyed. 70,000 Jamaicans still under tarpaulin. The Government had the chance to act. They chose not to.
We stand with the people of western Jamaica. You deserve a restart.
