We are honored to host Mr. @stevetraveller. Mr. Wills is a distinguished expert in drowning prevention, with a wealth of over 25 years experience working with the @RNLI in the UK & the Centre for Injury Prevention & Research, Bangladesh (CIPRB). During his visit, Mr. Wills is facilitating capacity-building sessions to enhance our #DrowningPrevention efforts and doing Monitoring & Evaluation (M&E) for the impact of our drowning prevention efforts thus far. Together with him, we have; ✅ Engaged with project partners to strengthen collaboration and integration of drowning prevention efforts. ✅ Reviewed our curriculum to refine and advance its development. ✅ Met with district local government teams in implementation districts. ✅ Visited swimming pool sites where survival swimming programs will take place. ✅ Engaged the @MoWT_Uganda, the lead agency for drowning prevention in Uganda. ✅ Planned upcoming conferences and international platforms to share our work. His visit is a timely boost to our efforts in ensuring safer waters for all. #OmanyiOkuwuga

In coordination with MoYS, MoWCA, and CIPRB, @UNICEF is working to increase awareness on drowning prevention and provide children and adolescents in Bangladesh with safe swimming skills.

Really good to see @CIPRB SeaSafe lifeguards use their @RNLI flood rescue training skills to rescue and assist hundreds of desperate people trapped by the recent devastating floods in Bangladesh 🇧🇩

These will directly go to flood affected communities in Noakhali, Feni, Moulvibazar and Khagrachari, through Centre for Injury Prevention and Research, Bangladesh (CIPRB). British High Commissioner Sarah Cooke and UNFPA Country Representative joined the handover event.

Great week of design workshops with colleagues from @RNLI @CIPRB @bournemouthuni @DwB_Africa @southamptonuniv reviewing community prioritised interventions for child drowning prevention (aged <2years) in Bangladesh, part of the @NIHRresearch funded #Sonamoni project.

That is a disappointment.

Samshun Nahar In Bangladesh, the RNLI works with the Centre for Injury Prevention and Research (CIPRB) to prevent drowning. Samshun is one of the CIPRB first responder trainers and has trained 19,000 people in lifesaving CPR techniques.

Fantastic day with the amazing @CIPRB Bhasa Project team! 1000 dedicated staff & vols are working tirelessly to reduce child drowning in the Barishal Division 🇧🇩. In this area alone, 8 lives are lost daily, something this team are changing! Proud to be part of this work @RNLI

Cox’s Bazar in 🇧🇩 seems a perfect place to end a busy week visiting @RNLI projects in India & Bangladesh @CIPRB SeaSafe project operates at 3 very busy beaches. This amazing team of lifeguards has helped saved 100’s of lives since 2014 - they rescued 12 students just yesterday!

It is not a easy task to categorise, measure and ascertain #nonfataldrowning, particularly in low- & middle- income countries due to the lack of data, tools, recall bias and mgmt issues- Prof AKM Fazlur Rahman @CIPRB. Let's hope the new NDCF will address these issues. @wcdp2023
