$Qubic のマイニングを Ubuntu 26.04 に切り替えてみました。MSR, Huge Pages、amd_pstate=active, cpupower frequency-set -g performance 等のセッティングを行ったのですが有意な差はみられませんでした。残念。

🧰 P-OPS TEAM | Tech Tips 🧠 CPU Frequency Scaling: When Your Validator Hesitates Your validator isn’t just cores and threads. It’s how fast those cores respond — in real time. ⚡ Instructions executed 🧮 State transitions processed 📡 Messages verified 🔁 Blocks validated If your CPU doesn’t respond instantly… Everything completes — just not when it should. 👀 What to watch CPU scaling issues show up as: 📊 Low average CPU usage — but inconsistent performance ⏱️ Latency spikes during block execution windows 📉 Slower vote signing under burst load 🔁 Inconsistent block processing time 📡 Gossip handling lag despite available headroom The CPU isn’t saturated. It’s reacting too slowly. 🧠 Why this matters Validators are latency-sensitive, burst-driven systems. Execution happens in short, critical windows: •block proposal •vote signing •gossip propagation Modern Linux systems use CPU frequency governors: • schedutil → scheduler-driven, reactive scaling (common default) • ondemand → legacy reactive scaling • performance → sustained high frequency, minimal latency • powersave → dynamic scaling (can boost, but not latency-optimised) ⚙️ On many systems (especially with intel_pstate): •CPUs can still boost under powersave or schedutil •But frequency ramps reactively, not instantly Result: • CPU ramps after workload begins • Short bursts complete slower than expected • Latency-sensitive paths fall behind Validators don’t need average performance. They need immediate response. 🔍 Practical checks 📌 Check current governor 𝚌𝚊𝚝 /𝚜𝚢𝚜/𝚍𝚎𝚟𝚒𝚌𝚎𝚜/𝚜𝚢𝚜𝚝𝚎𝚖/𝚌𝚙𝚞/𝚌𝚙𝚞*/𝚌𝚙𝚞𝚏𝚛𝚎𝚚/𝚜𝚌𝚊𝚕𝚒𝚗𝚐_𝚐𝚘𝚟𝚎𝚛𝚗𝚘𝚛 📌 Monitor real-time frequency 𝚠𝚊𝚝𝚌𝚑 -𝚗 𝟷 "𝚐𝚛𝚎𝚙 \"𝙼𝙷𝚣\" /𝚙𝚛𝚘𝚌/𝚌𝚙𝚞𝚒𝚗𝚏𝚘" 📌 Check scaling driver 𝚕𝚜𝚌𝚙𝚞 | 𝚐𝚛𝚎𝚙 -𝚒 𝚜𝚌𝚊𝚕𝚒𝚗𝚐 ⚙️ Recommended approach Optimise for responsiveness (where configurable): • Use performance governor on dedicated validator hardware • Avoid reactive scaling for latency-critical workloads • Ensure adequate cooling — sustained frequency depends on thermals • Check BIOS/firmware for power-saving constraints Example (if supported): 𝚜𝚞𝚍𝚘 𝚌𝚙𝚞𝚙𝚘𝚠𝚎𝚛 𝚏𝚛𝚎𝚚𝚞𝚎𝚗𝚌𝚢-𝚜𝚎𝚝 -𝚐 𝚙𝚎𝚛𝚏𝚘𝚛𝚖𝚊𝚗𝚌𝚎 📌 Note: •Some cloud providers restrict governor control •cpupower may require installation •intel_pstate systems may behave differently depending on mode 🔄 Validation loop After tuning: • CPU reaches high frequency faster • Execution latency tightens • Vote timing stabilises • Block processing becomes more consistent under burst load You’re not increasing compute. You’re removing response delay. 🧮 Operational signal If: • CPU usage looks low • But validator timing fluctuates The issue may be frequency scaling — not core count. 🔧 Operator posture • Treat CPU responsiveness as a first-class metric • Optimise for latency, not average utilisation • Validate behaviour under real network conditions • Recheck after kernel, BIOS, or hardware changes Consensus is time-sensitive. Responsiveness defines participation quality. ☎️ Stay Connected with P-OPS Team 🌎 Website: pops.one 🌳 Linktree: linktr.ee/p_opsteam 🐥 Twitter/X: x.com/popsteam1 ↗️ Telegram: t.me/POPS_Team_Validator 👾 Discord: discord.gg/jJ8aaMwPwa #ValidatorOps #TechTips #Linux #Performance #CPU #InfraMatters #POPSTeam #Web3 #Staking

sudo cpupower frequency-set -u 1600Mhz EZ PZ keeps any linux laptop cool, and any desktop sipping power like a raspberry pi. Still looking for undervolting controls on PCs without inbuilt bios controls.

`cpupower` command is my favorite linux command. I use the `cpupower` command every night to let my cores rest too while I sleep.
Every day before I go sleep, I take my notebook to bed, and disable most CPU cores, manually set the brightness down and downclock the remaining cores like this: I then listen to CS talks and game reviews for a bit Battery lasts long for P thinkpad

I just use cpupower and set the low and high freq. Keep in mind that your CPU has to support those

Also if you care about thread wakeup latency, might want to disable the deepest CPU sleep states (cpupower idle-info & idle-set).
