We joined other stakeholders in a meeting convened by the @sdgskenyaforum for the official launch and handover of the #CSODataCommons a tool built to put civil society at the centre of Sustainable Development Goals reporting.
The CSO Data Commons Platform was developed to help civil society organizations work with reliable evidence while reducing duplication.
#RestoringDignity
Anyone can collect numbers. 📋
But verified data, collected with a clear methodology, checked for accuracy, and traceable to its source, that's the kind that holds governments accountable.
That's the standard the CSO Data Commons Platform is built on.
#CSOdatacommons
The CSO Data Commons Platform was built to solve exactly this.
✅ See what data already exists before you collect
✅ Build on existing evidence instead of starting from scratch
✅ More time doing the work. Less time duplicating it.
#CSOdatacommons
Data informs decisions. 📊
But here's a problem nobody talks about enough in Kenya's civil society space:
We have been collecting the same data, in the same communities, in different formats, for years.
The result? Duplication, confusion, and wasted resources.
#CSOdatacommons
If data is the engine of the SDGs, who's been driving, & who's been left at the roadside?
Here's the uncomfortable truth:
📌 Progress looks different depending on whose data you use
📌 Without CSO data, the gaps stay invisible & invisible gaps don't get fixed.
#CSODataCommons
Today is a big day! We are gathered for the official launch and handover of the CSO Data Platform!
This is a tool built to put civil society at the centre of SDGs reporting.Data is the engine of the 2030 Agenda.
And today, we hand over the keys. 🗝️

📣 We’re proud to welcome @UDPKenya to the #CSODataCommons!
Sande Erick: “We’ve long called for disability-disaggregated data. The 2% figure from the 2019 Census shaped policy — but it doesn’t reflect our true numbers.”
📊 Data is power. Now, PWDs can shape it themselves.

CSOs have committed to the #CSODataCommons—sharing data for development, inclusion, and impact.
We explored big questions:
🗣 How do we include indigenous knowledge?
🔐 How do we keep data secure?
✅ How do we validate it?
⏳ When do we start?
This is just the beginning. We’re moving forward with tools, tech, and collective wisdom to make it real.
Stay tuned! 🔥

🗣️ "We believe in the data we’ve produced—and we’re ready to share it with the world."
At the #CSODataCommons, we’re embracing transparency, collaboration, and trust.
Shared data means shared power, and greater impact for the communities we serve.
"Data only drives change when everyone can understand and use it." @alkags
💭 How then do we make data accessible to all?
It starts with breaking down barriers—technical, institutional, and structural.
The #CSODataCommons will turn raw data into actionable insights!
Sometimes data can be difficult to navigate!
That’s why the #CSODataCommons is a game-changer:
✅ It connects CSO efforts
✅ Supports smarter, data-driven advocacy
✅ Delivers real change for communities
It’s time to move from isolated insights to collective intelligence.
>>> It’s finally happening!
📊 Data is only powerful when it’s shared.
#Didyouknow: CSOs in Kenya gather loads of valuable data, but much of it stays siloed and underused.
That’s a missed opportunity for impact!
The #OpenCSOCommons is here to change that.
