Mumbai - Pune Missing Link Feels Unreal | 10 KM Tunnel Experience Through Tiger Valley | SaudaGhar
The first tunnel from the Pune side often called one of India’s modern engineering crown jewels stretches nearly 1.9 kilometers in length. Right after this comes the magnificent cable-stayed bridge section. This entire valley crossing is almost 1 kilometer long, where the central cable bridge spans nearly 650 meters, supported by additional bridge sections on both sides.
And what makes this experience even more fascinating is the geography surrounding it. High above this valley lie some of Maharashtra’s most famous viewpoints like Tiger Point, Lion Point, and Shivling Point. The same valley further extends into the breathtaking Tiger Valley region. While driving through this route, it becomes difficult to even realize that you are crossing one of the most challenging ghat terrains in Maharashtra because the engineering refinement feels incredibly smooth and controlled.
After the bridge comes the second tunnel, nearly 7 kilometers long. Together, the combined tunnel length is close to 10 kilometers. At that point, it no longer feels like you are simply driving through tunnels it feels like travelling through the heart of modern Indian engineering itself. The smoothness, safety, alignment, and risk-free driving experience completely transform how people travel across the Khandala ghat section.
This project is not just infrastructure. It is the result of years of hard work by thousands of engineers, workers, technicians, and labourers who worked day and night inside difficult mountain terrain to make this possible. Projects like these remind us how rapidly India’s infrastructure capability is evolving.
