We are allowing human beings to live surrounded by trash in one of the most expensive cities in the world. Think about that. In a place known globally for opportunity, innovation, and wealth, many of our neighbors are forced to survive in conditions that look nothing like a “first world” country.
This is not just about garbage. It’s about dignity. It’s about public health. It’s about responsibility.
My question to California officials and city leaders is simple: Is this what a first world state looks like? Is this the standard we accept for our communities?
We cannot normalize people living in the middle of waste. We cannot keep looking away.
I call on our local and state authorities to take urgent, consistent action — not temporary cleanups, but real, long-term solutions. And I call on the community: don’t stay silent. Demand accountability. Report issues. Show up. Volunteer. Be part of the solution.
A clean city is not a luxury. It’s a basic right for everyone.
