People think if I get my dog to recall away from something, I have to have something they like better. 🐕🍗
And there will come a time when what the dog is attracted to in the environment is far more reinforcing or attractive than any piece of food you could ever come up with. 🌳🐿️ So relying on lures to create a recall — that's mistake number one. ❌
Mistake number two is the false confidence that's created through tools. 🧰 The main tools I believe are at risk of creating a false sense of security or confidence in your recall are a long line or an electric collar. 🎮⚡
Batteries fail, maybe you don't have your remote. 🔋As foolproof as it may seem, it's still a tool — with a lot of potential fallout and emotional damage done to the dog. 💔🐾 But it’s just that: a tool.

Just had an email from a distraught mummy... wee lad 6yrs dragged by staff wearing PPE along the corridor, shoved in the cupboard witnessed by his older sister aged 10.
This lass saw the staff lock the door with a key. According to staff, door was never locked & sister is lying!

A 5yr old wee girl with ASN was shoved in the cupboard (oops BLUE room) today in a Scottish School. Wee one wet herself and the DH demanded her mummy leave work 20 miles away to clean her daughter up. The DH said "I didn't go into teaching to deal with incontinent children" 😡😡

Hardly a surprise, teaching staff who abused my autistic child from he was 3-6yrs old torturing him with restraint and seclusion remained in charge of vulnerable children. EA weren’t interested either. A real child centred ethos! #EverydayHarm #connectionovercontrol #3yrs

Fermanagh school bus driver on police bail over child sexual abuse allegations last month is still driving a school bus for the Education Authority. I first informed the organisation about the allegations over a year ago while at @impartialrep. Today’s @TheSundayLife has more.

My autistic son remains secluded,but he had an hour's settled behaviour this afternoon! Why does he have to wait 2 hours before being allowed out. Tonight l rang and heard him scream! This is utter torture for him and me!
