Speaking to @ShereenBhan on Voices From The Valley, Meta’s Adithya Sagar argues that the playbook that built India’s startup ecosystem won’t create its next AI giant.
‘We are in a technological shift that perhaps we haven’t witnessed before in our lifetimes.’
In previous tech cycles, success often came from adapting proven global models for India. But AI is moving too fast—and the opportunity is too big—for copycat strategies.
‘What was true three months back will no longer be true six months back.’
If India wants to build a trillion-dollar AI company, Sagar says the focus must shift from replication to deep research, breakthrough innovation and long-term risk capital.
‘That $1 trillion valuation will happen only if there’s a significant shift around core research and innovation.’

Breaking: Funding from Vitalik Buterin’s Balvi Fund Expands Long COVID Rapamycin Trial
PolyBio today announced new funding that is supporting an open-label extension phase in a clinical trial investigating low-dose Rapamycin as a potential treatment for Long COVID. All participants—including those initially randomized to placebo—will receive low-dose rapamycin during a defined follow-up period. 1/
