پاکستان در چارچوب پیمان دفاعی مشترک، ۸ هزار سرباز، حدود ۱۶ جنگنده JF-17، دو طیاره بیسرنشین و سیستم دفاع هوایی چینی HQ-9 را به عربستان سعودی اعزام کرده است.
سه مقام امنیتی و دو منبع حکومتی به رویترز گفتهاند که این یک نیروی کامل رزمی است و در صورت نیاز، نیروهای بیشتری نیز اعزام خواهند شد.
منابع گفتهاند که تمامی تجهیزات نظامی توسط پرسونل پاکستانی اداره میشود، اما هزینههای آن را عربستان سعودی میپردازد.
به گفته آنان، این نیرو صرفاً یک ماموریت نمادین یا مشورتی نیست، بلکه ظرفیت کامل رزمی دارد.
براساس گزارش، پاکستان این جنگندهها را در اوایل ماه اپریل به عربستان سعودی فرستاده است. این اقدام پس از آن صورت گرفت که حملات ایران تاسیسات مهم انرژی عربستان را هدف قرار داد و یک شهروند سعودی نیز کشته شد.
دو کشور سال گذشته یک پیمان محرمانه دفاعی امضا کردند که بر بنیاد آن، در صورت حمله بر یکی از طرفها، کشور دیگر به دفاع از آن خواهد پرداخت. خواجه آصف، وزیر دفاع پاکستان، پیشتر گفته بود که این توافق عربستان سعودی را زیر چتر هستهای پاکستان قرار میدهد.
مقامهای امنیتی میگویند نیروهای پاکستانی و پرسونل نیروی هوایی که در جریان جنگ ایران به عربستان اعزام شدهاند، بیشتر نقش آموزشی و مشورتی خواهند داشت، اما هزاران سرباز پاکستانی از قبل نیز در چارچوب ماموریتهای رزمی در عربستان مستقر بودهاند.
یک منبع حکومتی گفته است که در متن توافق محرمانه دفاعی، امکان اعزام تا ۸۰ هزار سرباز پاکستانی به عربستان سعودی نیز در نظر گرفته شده تا در کنار نیروهای سعودی، امنیت مرزهای این کشور را تأمین کنند.
این در حالی است که پاکستان برای حل تنش میان ایران و ایالات متحده، میانجیگری گفتوگوهای دو کشور را بر عهده گرفته، اما این مذاکرات تا کنون به نتیجهای نرسیده است.
