The time has come to transform the Defence Space Agency (DSA) from a coordinating body into a fully empowered warfighting organization. Instead of waiting on DRDO, NTRO, or ISRO, the DSA must be given end-to-end ownership—from doctrine and capability development to deployment and operational execution.
Manned by 3–4 senior three-star/four-star officers with full accountability and autonomy, the DSA should drive decisions on satellite constellations, orbital architectures, trajectories, space-based ISR, communications, navigation, and defensive/offensive space capabilities.
Future warfare will be fought as much in space as on land, sea, air, and cyberspace. India must integrate quantum-secured networks, space-based data centres, air defence, directed-energy weapons, microwave systems, laser capabilities, and next-generation GPS architectures into a unified military space strategy.
Space is no longer a support domain—it is a strategic battlespace.

DFPDS-2026: India Moves Towards Faster, Smarter and More Decentralised Defence Procurement
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh has launched the Delegation of Financial Powers to Defence Services 2026 (DFPDS-2026), a major reform aimed at strengthening India’s military readiness and procurement efficiency. With enhanced financial powers for revenue-related procurement worth over ₹1.25 lakh crore annually, the new framework gives greater authority to field commanders and service leadership to take faster decisions based on operational needs.
This reform matters because modern warfare does not wait for slow files and delayed approvals. From urgent operational requirements to infrastructure development, equipment sustainment, research and indigenisation, speed has become a strategic necessity.
Key takeaways from DFPDS-2026:
✅ Faster procurement decisions for the Armed Forces
✅ Increased powers for urgent operational requirements
✅ Stronger support for indigenous R&D
✅ Reduced dependence on foreign OEMs
✅ Greater participation of MSMEs, startups and private industry
✅ Doubled financial powers for works projects
✅ Higher delegation for Joint Service procurement through the Lead Service model
✅ More decentralised procurement of goods and services
The financial powers for indigenisation and R&D within the military ecosystem have also been doubled, giving a stronger push to Aatmanirbharta in defence. The message is clear: India’s defence reforms are now moving beyond acquisition of platforms. They are focused on building a faster, more flexible and self-reliant military system.
DFPDS-2026 is not just about financial delegation. It is about empowering commanders, strengthening readiness and accelerating India’s defence-industrial transformation.

🚨 OUTRAGEOUS.
@PMOIndia & @DefenceMinIndia are forcing the Defence Travel System (DTS) on our soldiers — the ones who have no voice.
Troops deployed in operational areas are being pulled away from core duties just to manage this outdated system. Conservative estimates: over 10,000 personnel hours wasted every month — that’s ₹1000 crores annually in manpower cost.
Question for the Government:
Is DTS actually saving more money than the military manpower & time it’s burning?
This made sense in 2009 when smartphones & internet were scarce.
Why make it mandatory in 2026?
@RahulGandhi@INCIndia — will the Opposition ask the real questions? Who is actually benefiting from this?
Our soldiers deserve better.

"CDS Gen Anil Chauhan had a major unenviable task of integrating the Army, Airforce and Navy into one entity when he took over as CDS. He was able to break this task into two approaches, one which was quantifiable with 197 Integration Initiatives identified and being worked upon. The other approach was non tangible, in that the culture of three different services was to blend into an entirely new tri services culture through Jointness 2.0. A thinking General, he decided to use consensus as a method to see the task through in his own way, he met and influenced officers from all the three services also carried out close door consultations to bring about a most needed change. Very rarely does one get to see validation of one's new ideas, Pakistan provided CDS the opportunity and through OP SINDOOR his ideas of integration were successively tested during a conflict, where he personally coordinated the three services. He leaves behind a host of initiatives, all focussed towards changing the armed forces in a manner that they are future ready, for any military conflict, working as a single unit within a theatre command to secure the Nation," writes Col Rahul Tripathi (Retd), Senior Fellow at CENJOWS.
