The Ed Slott conference wrapped up last Friday, and our team capped it off with a photo with Ed Slott himself.
It was a highly educational experience, keeping us razor-sharp on the latest tax and retirement strategies tied to new government policies. #instantirasuccess#edslott
The very first thing my kids did with their very first W2 was to open a Roth and get the 5 year clock rolling.
That said, if you are in the 15% or below tax bracket a Roth is just about the same initially as a traditional, but in the long haul makes way more sense. Between 15% and 24% it depends on many factors and above almost always a traditional can make sense.
Lots of factors to the issue though. Retirement accounts are way more complex than most practitioners in either the planning world or the tax world realize. If you ever get the chance, take Ed Slott, CPAs class on IRAs.
