Local activists are launching 3 impact measurement studies across regions in East Africa where over 95% of girls are mutilated.
Supported by impact measurement experts at Vivid Research and DataMill, local researchers are gathering qualitative and quantitative data across Somalia and Kenya to understand where attitudes towards FGM stand before the frontline-led campaign rolls out.
A baseline survey was carried out this week by local partners at the
@IfrahFoundation in Galmadug, Somalia, as they prepare to bring the Born Perfect Caravans to FGM hot-spot communities in the region. In the Kenyan regions of Wajir and Garissa, local activists are doing the same.
This is how we measure what works, and what doesn't. Yet, too often, programmes run without their real impact being measured.
This summer, grassroots activists will be joined by local influencers and travel village to village with news of the recent FGM bans, bringing legal, religious and medical messaging directly to communities where girls are vulnerable to mutilation.
