Neurodivergent people are living in systems never built for them.
It’s like placing a polar bear in a desert and wondering why it can’t thrive.
The issue isn’t the bear.
It’s the environment. When we force only one way of learning, working, or being, we lose the brilliance of the minds built for innovation, depth, creativity, and truth. We don’t need more rigid systems.
We need flexible ones that recognize all kinds of brains and allow every mind to thrive. #Neurodiversity #Neurodivergent #CognitiveDiversity #OutOfTheBoxThinkers #EvolutionaryDesign #InnovativeMinds #HumanPotential #Neuroinclusive #InclusiveWorkplaces #InclusiveEducation #ADHDStrengths #AutisticStrengths #TwiceExceptional #GiftedAndNeurodivergent #HSPCommunity #DifferentBrains #StrengthBasedApproach #BreakTheMold #FutureOfWork #RethinkTheSystem #FlexibleByDesign #HumanCenteredDesign #MentalHealthEducation #PsychologyPost #NeurodiversityMovement #ThinkDifferent #DesignedToThrive

Generative design of synthetic gene circuits for functional and evolutionary properties 1. Olivia Gallup presents a novel approach to designing synthetic gene circuits using generative algorithms, specifically conditional variational autoencoders (CVAEs), to achieve both functional and evolutionary properties. This work demonstrates the potential of machine learning in synthetic biology. 2. The study shows that even simple generative models like CVAEs can produce novel genetic circuits that match complex dynamic functions such as signal adaptation. The model leverages RNA interaction predictors to estimate functional features and evolutionary stability, providing insights into the design rules for adaptable circuits. 3. A key innovation is the use of in silico RNA simulation to construct a dataset of RNA sequences, which are then converted to circuits. This allows for the estimation of functional features alongside evolutionary stability, and the model learns meaningful features that correspond to previously identified motifs crucial for adaptation. 4. The research highlights that framing adaptation as a single design objective outperforms other input representations, emphasizing the importance of choosing the correct data encoding for generating genetic circuits. The model generates diverse distributions of circuits that match their target adaptation specification well, even with limited training data. 5. The study also explores the simultaneous prompting of functional and evolutionary properties, providing a proof-of-concept for the combined design of phenotype and evolutionary stability. This dual prompting approach enables the generation of circuits that are not only adaptable but also either evolvable or stable against mutations. 6. The work addresses the challenge of data availability in biology by showing that high-quality generative results can be achieved with a training dataset as small as 2,000 samples. This has significant practical implications for experimental approaches in synthetic biology. 📜Paper: biorxiv.org/content/10.1101/… 💻Code: github.com/olive004/genetic_… #SyntheticBiology #MachineLearning #GeneCircuits #EvolutionaryDesign #GenerativeModels
