Big corporations love regulations… because they can afford them. Small farmers? They get priced out. This is how family farms are being pushed out of business in Minnesota. Texas soil didn't become unhealthy overnight, and it won't recover overnight either. Hemp can help restore nutrients, improve soil health, and even help remove contaminants from damaged farmland. Minnesota needs better legislation for small farmers. Right now, cottage food laws help with baked goods and preserves, but dairy and red meat are still stuck with the same heavy regulations as big corporate farms. You can legally process chickens yourself… but not pigs. Rebecca Whiting is running for U.S. Senate to cut through this kind of overregulation. This is exactly why Texans need to take the screwworm threat seriously. What starts with livestock can quickly affect pets, wildlife, and the food supply that families depend on. “The numbers are now on paper. 🧑‍🌾 "We're losing 1,200 to 1,500 family farms a year in Minnesota… and it's not the market's fault." Rebecca Whiting, a local small farmer (micro-dairy on just 6 acres) sat down and dropped some hard truths about Sen. Tina Smith's Livestock Consolidation Research Act of 2026. The bill claims to "study" why a few giant corporations now dominate meat and dairy. But the farmer's take? The politicians have zero self-awareness. Because of crushing federal and state regulations (the same rules for a 1,000-cow dairy apply to someone milking 3-4 cows), small farms can't afford to stay in business or add value like selling cheese or yogurt at the farmers market. One farmer is looking at nearly a million dollars in infrastructure just to sell cheese locally. Meanwhile, corporate operations absorb the costs, small farms fold, and consolidation marches on. This is classic cronyism dressed up as "research." The libertarian answer is simple: Get government out of the way! Stop with one-size-fits-all rules that only the big players can meet. Let small farmers, local markets, and voluntary cooperation do what they do best feed communities without the middleman or the mandate. This is exactly the kind of issue Rebecca is fighting for. Small farms = resilient food system. Over-regulation = consolidation and fragility. 🇺🇸 From Rural America to Capitol Hill 🇺🇸 Last week, I (Kassi) had the privilege of traveling to Washington, D.C. with an incredible group of women farmers I’ve called friends and peers for more than 12 years. Together, we represent family farming operations across six states and tens of thousands of acres of production agriculture. In just 2½ days, we participated in 17 meetings with leaders from USDA, USTR, the White House, and members of Congress. We shared real-world perspectives on the challenges and opportunities facing agriculture today—from trade and biofuels to labor, input costs, and ensuring the next generation has the opportunity to continue the family farm. Advocacy isn’t always done from a tractor cab or a field edge. Sometimes it means taking our boots to Capitol Hill and making sure the voices of farmers are heard where decisions are being made. I’m grateful for the opportunity to represent Tom Farms, Indiana agriculture, and the family farms that work every day to feed, fuel, and clothe our world. While one trip won’t solve every challenge, we’re hopeful these conversations help move the needle for American farmers and rural communities. #TomFarms #FarmAdvocacy #FamilyFarms #Agriculture @ShontelMBrown @USDA @JohnBoozman @WhiteHouse @USTradeRep

The rules of agriculture are changing. For generations, the path to farming often meant inheriting land, equipment, and a place in the operation. Today, the next generation faces a much different reality. High land values, rising costs, and tight margins mean success requires more than hard work—it takes strategy, innovation, strong relationships, and a willingness to adapt. As a multi-generational family farm, we know that preserving a legacy isn’t just about passing down acres. It’s about creating opportunities for the next generation to lead, grow, and succeed. The future of agriculture will belong to those who can embrace change while staying rooted in the values that built our farms in the first place. A worthwhile read on where agriculture is headed and what it will take to win in the years ahead. #NextGenerationAg #FamilyFarms #Agriculture #RuralAmerica #TomFarms agweb.com/news/business/farm…

🚨 ARIZONA ALERT: Farmers and ranchers across Arizona are raising concerns as rapid growth, rising land values, and expanding development continue putting pressure on some of the state's most valuable agricultural land. 🌵🚜🇺🇸 From the farmlands of Yuma and Pinal County to the ranches and rural communities spread across the state, many Arizona families say productive agricultural land is steadily disappearing as housing developments, warehouses, and commercial projects expand. One Arizona farmer shared: "Arizona may be known for its deserts, but our farms help feed millions. Once farmland is covered by concrete, it may never return to production. Protecting local agriculture means protecting our future." Arizona's farmers and ranchers produce a wide variety of crops and livestock, including lettuce, cotton, hay, citrus, pecans, melons, cattle, and dairy products. These operations support local economies, create jobs, and help preserve Arizona's agricultural heritage. 🌾☀️ Across Yuma, Casa Grande, Buckeye, Eloy, Maricopa, Prescott Valley, and rural communities throughout the state, residents say protecting farmland is about more than food production. It's about preserving open spaces, supporting local families, protecting wildlife habitat, and maintaining the Arizona way of life. Because once Arizona's farms and ranchlands disappear beneath endless development... they may never come back. 🌵❤️ Support Local Farmers. Farmers depend on science, innovation, and access to proven tools to grow safe, abundant, and affordable food. Thank you, Secretary Rollins, for standing up for farmers and supporting continued access to glyphosate, one of the most thoroughly studied and effective tools available to modern agriculture. On our family farm, glyphosate helps us control weeds, protect crop yields, reduce fuel usage, and support conservation practices that help preserve our soil for future generations. Decisions impacting agriculture should be rooted in sound science and real-world farming experience. We appreciate leaders who understand the importance of keeping proven tools available so American farmers can continue producing the safest, most affordable food supply in the world. #FarmersForScience #Agriculture #FamilyFarms #Glyphosate #FoodSecurity

PFMA member Pete & Gerry’s said it best: some things are learned over time. In the Food and Beverage Industry, experience matters. So does trust, care and knowing the work doesn’t always fit neatly into a manual. Here’s to the farms, families and generations keeping that knowledge alive. 💙🥚 #PFMA #FoodAndBeverageIndustry #MemberNews #FamilyFarms #PennsylvaniaFoodIndustry

Following the closure of the Del Monte cannery in Modesto, clingstone peach growers across California have faced significant economic hardship and uncertainty. The U.S. Department of Agriculture has announced up to $9 million in funding to support a tree removal program, helping growers transition, recover and continue farming. “It offers a glimmer of hope after a devastating period, ensuring California farmers can transition to new crops and stay on their land,” said California Farm Bureau President Shannon Douglass. California Farm Bureau and the California Canning Peach Association thank the @USDAGov, @RepMikeThompson, @RepDavidValadao, @SenAdamSchiff and @J_Gallagher4CA, along with California’s Congressional delegation, for their efforts in securing this critical support for growers, their families and the rural communities that depend on agriculture. 👉 Read more at cfbf.com/pressrelease #CAFarmBureau #News #CaliforniaAgriculture #PeachGrowers #Peaches #ClingstonePeach #Fudning #AgPolicy #USDA #FamilyFarms #DelMonte #Cannery #CannedPeaches
