NITI Aayog’s Frontier Tech Hub has unveiled “Future of India’s Semiconductor Industry”, a 10-year roadmap outlining India’s vision for strengthening its position across the global semiconductor value chain. Smt. Nirmala Sitharaman, Hon’ble Minister of Finance and Corporate Affairs, and Shri Ashwini Vaishnaw, Minister for Railways, Information & Broadcasting and Electronics & Information Technology, launched the roadmap on 29 May 2026 in the presence of Shri Ashok Lahiri, Hon’ble Vice Chairman, NITI Aayog, to chart India’s next phase of semiconductor growth and leadership. Leadership in frontier technologies is not built in short cycles. It calls for long-term planning, sustained capability development and the foresight to invest ahead of demand. This roadmap outlines that path for one of the world’s most critical technology value chains. As India moves from ecosystem creation to ecosystem deepening, the roadmap sets out an ambitious vision of building a USD 120–150 billion semiconductor ecosystem by 2035, while identifying key priorities and emerging opportunities across the semiconductor value chain. The NITI Regional Workshop under the State Support Mission (SSM) concluded with key takeaways—ranging from the role of Artificial Intelligence in governance and the importance of data centres in driving digital growth, to how growth hubs can serve as engines of regional prosperity. The deliberations also focused on State Visions@2047 for achieving Viksit Rajya and highlighted the critical role of capacity building through knowledge institutions in attaining excellence. These insights provided valuable direction to the State Institutions for Transformation (SITs) in aligning State and National goals.
