This article explains in a good, fact-based, way why Waymo may deserve our respect for leading the way in autonomous vehicles, but also why they are ultimately doomed. Whilst reading it I learned a lot about how the 'HD mapping' and Lidar actually work. I sort of knew the basics, but never the multiple steps needed, and reading through those steps immediately made it clear why HDmapping and Lidar are not the way. Warmly recommend to read it!

No one cares about arguments. We mock these takes, because we know the service will be much cheaper. It is extremely obvious (180k vs <30k COGS, not to mention operational costs of hdmapping, maintenance). And theres no need to prove that to a rando on the internet because once Tesla rolls this out - people will simply choose Tesla to ridehail, because its cheaper. And the technical/logical reasons for it wont matter with the customers flocking.
