This was not a minor angle; it was the dominant public narrative. There was even an open letter supporting her (signed by thousands, including many Google employees) used slogans like "#IStandWithTimnit #BelieveBlackWomen" and portrayed it as silencing a prominent Black female researcher. She turned a professional dispute over research standards, internal processes, and an inflammatory email into identity-based victimhood when negotiations failed.
