India Showcases PMFBY at the International Conference on Inclusive Insurance 2025 in Ecuador
The International Conference on Inclusive Insurance 2025 is held from 13β17 October 2025 in Quito, Ecuador, brought together experts from over 40 countries to explore ways to accelerate growth and strengthen the economic viability of inclusive insurance in emerging markets.
Representing India, Ms. Kamna R. Sharma, Additional Commissioner (Crop Insurance), along with Mr. Ajay Karan Singh, National Project Director, CPMUβPMFBY, presented insights on the role of crop insurance under the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY) and the importance of building pathways and partnerships to enhance agricultural insurance for climate resilience.
In her address, Ms. Sharma highlighted how PMFBY has supported millions of Indian farmers, strengthening their resilience against climate risks and ensuring the stability of agricultural livelihoods. She also showcased PMFBY as a global success model for crop insurance.
The United Nations Development Programme (
@UNDP_India) has a strategic partnership with the Government of India for implementing PMFBY, under which knowledge exchange and collaboration on scheme innovations are being carried out through the UNDP Insurance and Risk Finance Facility (IRFF).
Hosted by FederaciΓ³n Ecuatoriana de Empresas de Seguros FEDESEG , Junta de PolΓtica y RegulaciΓ³n Financiera y Monetaria (JPRFM) , and the Superintendencia de CompaΓ±Γas, Valores y Seguros, in collaboration with the Munich Re Foundation and the Microinsurance Network, the conference continues to serve as a key global platform for knowledge exchange and innovation in inclusive insurance.
