An elder in Northern Kenya once said, “A good road is more than a path—it is a promise that no community will be left behind.” Today, that promise is steadily becoming a reality along the Isiolo–Mandera Regional Road Corridor, a transformative investment that is reshaping Northern Kenya’s connectivity landscape and unlocking new possibilities for generations to come. Spanning 764 km, the @WorldBankKenya -funded Horn of Africa Gateway Development Project (HoAGDP) road will link Isiolo, Garissa, Wajir, and Mandera counties, opening new opportunities for trade, investment, education, healthcare, and social integration across the region. For communities that have long faced challenges associated with distance and limited infrastructure, this corridor represents more than a road—it is a gateway to opportunity, inclusion, and economic growth. Progress on Package 1 continues to accelerate. Lot 1 (Isiolo–Kulamawe) has achieved over 21 km of completed blacktop, while Lot 2 (Kulamawe–Modogashe) has delivered 35 km of tarmac. Together, Package 1 has now recorded an impressive 56 km of tarmacked roads, bringing communities closer, reducing travel barriers, lowering transportation costs, and improving access to essential services across Northern Kenya. Construction is advancing simultaneously across all three road packages of the Isiolo–Mandera Corridor. Package 1, covering the Isiolo–Modogashe section, continues to register significant progress and is already delivering tangible benefits to communities along the route. Further north. Package 2, which stretches from Modogashe to Wajir, is progressing alongside the other sections, ensuring that connectivity gains are being realized across multiple counties at the same time rather than in phases. Meanwhile, Package 3, covering the Wajir–Mandera section, is equally advancing, reinforcing the project's commitment to creating a seamless transport corridor that will strengthen regional integration and unlock economic opportunities across Northern Kenya. The concurrent implementation of all three packages demonstrates a strong commitment to fast-tracking connectivity, trade, investment, and regional integration. It reflects a shared vision of creating a modern transport corridor that will stimulate economic activity, strengthen cross-border trade, improve mobility, and support long-term development throughout the region. The success of the Isiolo–Mandera Road, however, is not only being measured in kilometres of tarmac laid. Its true impact is also reflected in the trust being built among communities, the partnerships being strengthened, and the sense of ownership being fostered among the people who stand to benefit from this transformative project. This is where FCDC continues to play a critical role. @FCDCKenya has emerged as the bridge between government, development partners, and local communities—ensuring that the benefits of this transformative corridor are inclusive, accountable, and owned by the people it serves. Through continuous engagement, dialogue, and community participation, FCDC is helping ensure that development is not only delivered to communities but shaped with them. As the corridor steadily takes shape, it is connecting more than towns and counties. It is connecting people to opportunity, businesses to markets, students to schools, patients to healthcare services, and communities to a future of greater prosperity and resilience. Because the true measure of this road is not only the kilometres completed, but the trust, opportunity, dignity, and hope it delivers along the way. This is development done right. #IsioloManderaRoad #HoAGDP #NorthernKenya #InfrastructureForDevelopment #RegionalIntegration #FCDC #CommunityDrivenDevelopment #TransformingLives

Yesterday, I had the privilege of joining senior government officials for the commissioning of the main carriageways of the Outer Southern Expressway (OSEX), spanning Ring Road I to Ring Road II Junction in Abuja. This landmark project marks the commencement of another phase of impactful project inaugurations celebrating the third anniversary of this administration. The event was officially flagged off by the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, His @officialABAT Excellency Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, represented by the President of the Senate, Senator Godswill Akpabio. Infrastructure remains a vital social determinant of health. By reducing travel time, easing traffic congestion, lowering transportation costs, and improving connectivity across the FCT, this project will significantly enhance the well-being and quality of life of residents. I commend the Honorable Minister of the FCT, @GovWike Barrister Nyesom Wike, for his visionary leadership, and the Honorable Minister of State, Dr. Mariya Mahmoud, for her steadfast commitment to the development of the Federal Capital Territory. TRANSFORMING ZIMBABWE THROUGH INFRASTRUCTURE: ZANU PF’S MEGA ROAD REVOLUTION UNDER PRESIDENT MNANGAGWA The ruling ZANU PF Government, under the visionary and able leadership of His Excellency President Cde Dr Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa, has made remarkable strides in restoring unity, peace and stability across Zimbabwe, particularly in areas that were once marginalized and neglected. Since assuming office in 2017, President Mnangagwa has championed a development-first agenda anchored on inclusivity, national cohesion and economic revival. The completion and ongoing implementation of the Mega Road Rehabilitation Programme stands as a powerful symbol of this transformation. Spanning the length and breadth of the country, the modernisation of road infrastructure is bringing order, improving safety, and reconnecting communities that were previously cut off from mainstream economic activity. These roads are not just pathways of travel, but lifelines of development, trade, investment and social integration. Under the Second Republic, infrastructure development has become a key driver of growth, unlocking opportunities in agriculture, mining, tourism, manufacturing and cross-border trade. Improved road networks have reduced transportation costs, enhanced access to markets, stimulated rural industrialisation and attracted both local and foreign investment, thereby uplifting livelihoods and accelerating national development. President Mnangagwa’s leadership has consistently emphasised peace, stability and hard work as the foundation for progress. Through the mantra “Nyika Inovakwa Nevene Vayo / Ilizwe Lakhiwa Ngabanikazi Balo,” Zimbabweans have been mobilised to take ownership of their country’s development, with infrastructure serving as a unifying force that binds the nation together. Nearly a decade into his leadership, the impact of President Mnangagwa’s vision is visible across Zimbabwe — from rehabilitated highways and urban roads to renewed confidence in the country’s future. The ZANU PF Government continues to demonstrate that sustainable development, national unity and economic empowerment are achievable through decisive leadership and people-centred policies. #ZANUPFDelivers #MegaRoadRevolution #InfrastructureForDevelopment #SecondRepublic #ZimbabweIsOpen @TateMavetera @ZimEye @Necaz__Zim @nelsonchamisa @LynneStactia @nickmangwana @wicknellchivayo

The Minister for Information, Culture, Arts and Sports, Professor Palamagamba Kabudi, has stated that the JP Magufuli Bridge continues to solidify Tanzania’s reputation as the gateway to other East African nations. Professor Kabudi made these remarks on 22 June 2025 during the Mwananchi Thought Leadership Forum, organised by Mwananchi Communications Limited (MCL) in collaboration with the Ministry of Works. The forum is centred on the theme: “Building Bridges, Building the Nation: Infrastructure as a Catalyst for Inclusive Growth.” “This bridge strengthens both political and economic diplomacy. It is a vital link that connects us with our neighbours. In the years to come, this bridge will serve as a strategic connector between Central and West Africa,” he said. He further noted that Tanzania’s geographical advantage—including its borders, coastline, and seaports—makes it the most connected country in East Africa, sharing boundaries with more countries than any other in the region and serving as a major access point via its ports. He praised President Samia Suluhu Hassan’s adeptness in economic diplomacy, which he said was instrumental in the bridge’s completion—now at 100 percent—and in unlocking both the domestic and international economy. #MwananchiForum #InfrastructureForDevelopment

Ambassador John Ulanga has said that between 30 to 50 percent of the price of goods is attributed to transport costs. He explained that infrastructure improvements help reduce transport expenses, thereby increasing profitability. He noted that Tanzania holds a strategic geographical position, being the only country interconnected with many others in the region. As such, improvements that eliminate inconveniences—such as delays caused by broken ferries—are crucial for seamless operations. “This construction enhances efficiency and removes barriers to doing business. For anyone seeking to trade with another country, the key consideration is reliable transport—how do I get there? How do I move my goods? This is a major boost to the Central Corridor and strengthens competitiveness within East Africa,” he said. He made these remarks on 22 June 2025 during the Mwananchi Thought Leadership Forum, organised by Mwananchi Communications Limited (MCL) in collaboration with the Ministry of Works. The forum was held under the theme “Building Bridges, Building a Nation: Infrastructure as a Catalyst for Inclusive Growth.” #MwananchiForum #InfrastructureForDevelopment

The Member of Parliament for Geita Rural, Joseph Musukuma, has said that the sixth-term President, Samia Suluhu Hassan, has demonstrated a commendable approach in the implementation of projects across the country. Musukuma made these remarks today, Sunday 22 June 2025, while inaugurating the Mwananchi Thought Leadership Forum organised by Mwananchi Communications Limited (MCL) in collaboration with the Ministry of Construction, under the theme, “Building Bridges, Building the Nation: Infrastructure as a Catalyst for Inclusive Growth.” He said he has learned a great deal from the sixth-term President. Having been involved in politics for 20 years prior to his parliamentary career, he has witnessed several presidents, but very rarely has he seen one willing to take on all the projects initiated by their predecessor. He recalled that even during former President Jakaya Kikwete’s tenure, who had his own strategic projects, when President Magufuli took office, he neither pursued the gas projects nor the constitution, instead initiating his own programmes without consulting anyone. “Therefore, even after Magufuli’s departure, President Samia had the capacity to continue with those projects, and honestly, as one of the MPs who has witnessed many projects, I visited the Nyerere Dam and she has taken full responsibility for it. This paints a very positive picture and is the reason why the planning commission was established — so that everyone who comes after follows the same path. Many projects were left incomplete despite substantial funding,” he said. Musukuma added that he has visited many projects and saw the heavy burden they represented. “Now I asked myself, this lady is calm and speaks quietly. President Magufuli was quite forceful; you couldn’t question where the money would come from because he knew himself. So, I wondered, ‘Madam, where will you get the funds for these projects?’ But we have learnt a lot from the sixth-term President,” he concluded. #MwananchiForum #InfrastructureForDevelopment

Geita Rural MP, Joseph Musukuma, has revealed that he was once detained (“put in a cell”) for opposing the feasibility of building the JP Magufuli Bridge, arguing that such a structure was impossible at the time. Speaking on Sunday, June 22, 2025, during the Mwananchi Thought Leadership Forum co-organised by MCL and the Ministry of Works. “The challenges we faced made it unthinkable that a bridge could be built there. I objected to it, and the President at the time had me detained. But today, we’re driving over that same bridge — it’s a long story,” he said Musukuma noted that the bridge’s commissioning attracted huge crowds, not just for photos but to witness what many once thought impossible. #MwananchiForum #InfrastructureForDevelopment

Minister of State, President’s Office (Investment), Professor Kitila Mkumbo, has stated that the construction of quality infrastructure, including the new JP Magufuli Bridge, is a clear sign of development in the respective region. He noted that the bridge, besides opening economic opportunities for the people of Mwanza, Geita regions and neighbouring countries, also stands as a symbol of progress due to its size and quality. “One of the hallmarks of a nation’s development is the building of modern and high-quality infrastructure, as is the case in Tanzania. If you visit Mwanza and see that bridge and the funds invested in it, it is a clear sign of development,” said Professor Kitila. Professor Kitila made these remarks on Sunday, 22 June 2025, while speaking at the Mwananchi Thought Leadership Forum organised by Mwananchi Communications Ltd (MCL) in collaboration with the Ministry of Works.
