We are honored to have participated in the 2025 Kenya Libraries and Information Services Consortium - KLISC Biennial Workshop, held on May 21-22 at the Dallas Premier Hotel in Kisii Town. This significant event convened together heads of libraries, information institutions, LIS professionals, publishers ,stakeholders from Kenya and all over the world. The workshops, theme was "Advancing Library and Information Services: Innovations, Research Excellence, and Holistic User Support." Representing our institution, as one of the speakers was Mr. Joel Nakitare, a senior and passionate librarian. His insightful presentation emphasized the necessity for libraries to re-engineer their spaces, collections, services, and ICT infrastructure to align with CBC objectives. Mr. Nakitare's contribution was well-received, sparking meaningful discussions on repositioning libraries as central to CBC implementation. #kliscworkshop2025 #LibraryInnovation #CompetencyBasedCurriculum #RongoUniversity

その後、市役所に歩いて戻りまして、 京都府立医科大学の夜久均学長、八木田和弘研究開発副学長をお迎え致しました。 同大学では、健康・医療・福祉分野における社会課題の解決や未来医療の創出を通じて社会貢献を実現することを目的とした「産学公連携機構（K-MICS）」を今年の4月に設立され、学内にとどまらず、企業、他大学、公的機関との連携の下、研究人材の育成・交流や研究環境の提供、さらには企業ニーズに応じた社会実装の支援にも力を入れておられます。 今後、K-MICS様と、本市が設置している「京都市ライフイノベーション創出センター（KLISC）」などとの連携強化も図りながら、多彩な人材を京都に吸引し、まちの価値の更なる向上を目指すとともに、京都市に住むすべての人々にとって、健康で、生きがいに溢れた幸福度の高いまちづくりを行う必要があるとあらためて感じ入りました。 夜久先生、八木田先生、ありがとうございました。

Parliament benefits from research for evidence-based decision-making. Today, Kenya Library Services Consortium (KLISC) led by Dr. Arnold Mwanzu paid me a courtesy call in my office. Kenya needs access to extensive research databases to help unlock its potential. We need to bridge gaps in local journals and the digital disparity in this era. We must strive to bridge these divides to ensure equitable access to information. With our Center for Parliamentary Studies (CPST), and educational institutions, we aim to create a repository akin to Ivy League institutions to elevate quality of education, foster research and development in Kenya.

KLISC Governing Board members paid a courtesy call to the PS, Higher Education & Research, Dr. Beatrice Inyangala. They held fruitful discussions on how the Kenyan Government can support access to quality electronic journals and ebooks for research and learning in Kenya.
