At Wapung Block, East Jaintia Hills, Meghalaya, the
#NRO Head Shri V. Krishna Rao and officials from
#RythuSadhikaraSamstha (RySS) visited villages and interacted closely with farmers and staff. The visit began at Panthorsale Village with an interaction at the
#RDS field of Mrs. Darbiang, a farmer practicing natural farming for the past year, followed by a visit to Mekhalong Village where discussions were held at the Farmer Field Schools on crop patterns, Package of Practices (POP), the role of Krish Sakhi, and strengthening FFS as a learning platform. Interactions with lead farmers at model fields and a community meeting marked the conclusion of the visit, reinforcing collective efforts to promote natural farming through collaboration and shared learning.
“As part of the tripartite MoU entered in 2023 between RySS, MSRLS, Meghalaya and MNMACS,
#NaturalFarming has been implemented in Wapung Block for the last three years. The project has reached 12 districts, 21 blocks and 117 Village Organisations, nurturing over 2,000 Lead Farmers and 135 Internal ICRPs to mobilise WSHG members to transition from chemical farming to natural farming. Encouraged by the inspiring results, the initiative is planned to scale up to 46 Livelihoods Blocks in the coming year,” said V.Krishna Rao, Head – NRO, RySS.
