Just had confirmation that I was given a placebo whilst I was on the #MSstat2 trial. mssociety.org.uk/research/ex…

Despite the disappointing result, @MsStat2 had so many positives. Remaining active during the pandemic, often being the only contact people with MS had with HCP’s to name but one. Onwards and upwards now with OCTOPUS!🐙
Today the results of the MS-STAT2 trial were announced by Professor Jeremy Chataway at the ECTRIMS research conference in Copenhagen. This trial tested simvastatin, commonly used to treat high cholesterol, in 964 people with secondary progressive MS. (1/6)

Very disappointing news but an enormous thank you to all those who worked so hard to keep the trial going during such difficult times. Professor Jeremy Chatterway - this would not have been possible without your leadership.

Taking into account both @MsStat2 and #Tolebrutinib #HERCULES trials @ECTRIMS #MSCopenhagen24 the role of #brain #volume change/#atrophy as predictor of treatment effect in #MS deserves some reflection @mssociety @mssocietyuk @NIHRresearch @the_MSBlog
@MsStat2 is NEGATIVE. Big thank you commiserations to ALL involved @UCLIoN @QSMSCENTRE and across sites. Monumental effort & reminder how difficult progressive #MS treatment is, how slowly progress is being made. Thanks for support: @mssociety @mssocietyuk @NIHRresearch

One of the benefits of being on the MSstat2 trial was that you're cognitive skills are assessed. Sadly most Neuro's just won't have the time to fit everything in during an annual check up.

I've been on the @MsStat2 trial & started the #ChariotMS trial in June. There is no DMT to slow down my progression (no active lesions) so I feel I've nothing to lose. Also if on med or placebo,I hope it will help future PwMS.

Recently retired nurse & general manager and MS ambassador @StuStepsUp talks candidly about his experience of working in the NHS with MS over the last 40 years and how demand has changed vastly over that time. #NHS75 #GIG75

Thank you. I was fine starting the MSstat2 trial few years back, as that was only possibly taking just a statin. Think more anxious as to the type of drug I could be potentially taking. All good though so far, still no side effects.
