Yesterday, on World MS Day, we recognize the more than 2.9 million people worldwide living with multiple sclerosis, with particular attention to those affected by progressive forms of the disease. Progressive MS has historically had significantly fewer treatment options than relapsing MS, underscoring the need for continued treatment in this area. Ibudilast has been investigated as a potential therapy to address this unmet need. In the SPRINT-MS Phase 2 clinical trial, published in the New England Journal of Medicine in 2018, ibudilast was associated with a 48% reduction in the rate of brain atrophy compared with placebo over 96 weeks, corresponding to approximately 2.5 mL less brain tissue loss. The study enrolled 255 patients with primary or secondary progressive MS across 28 clinical sites in the United States. While scientific progress is often incremental, each well-conducted study advances our understanding and brings us closer to better options for people living with MS. 🔗 Read the full SPRINT-MS publication: nejm.org/doi/full/10.1056/NE… #MediciNova #WorldMSDay #MSAwareness #MultipleSclerosis #ProgressiveMS #Ibudilast

Multiple sclerosis (MS) is a chronic, progressive disease of the central nervous system that affects nearly 2.5 million people worldwide. While advances have improved treatment for relapsing-remitting MS (RRMS), options for patients living with progressive MS remain extremely limited. Through collaborative trials with the NIH, Cleveland Clinic, and leading MS research centers, MN-166 has advanced as a potential disease-progression modifying therapy. Our mission remains clear: to pioneer safe, effective, and well-tolerated therapies that provide new hope to patients facing the toughest forms of MS. 🔬 A new milestone in progressive MS research has been reached. The International Progressive MS Alliance, in partnership with McGill University and leading pharma, has launched the MS Clinical and Imaging Data Resource (CIDR), a €685M collection of 72,000 MRI scans and 200,000 clinical records. 📖 Read full article at eMedEvents to know more: ow.ly/jEjB50WJr8j For neurologists, nurses, and MS researchers, CIDR offers harmonized datasets to study disease progression, test predictive AI tools, and design more efficient clinical trials. This initiative aims to close the treatment gap in progressive MS and bring therapies to patients faster.
