Measurement technology may be becoming the next frontier in energy efficiency. More than 10% of Germany’s electricity consumption is associated with lighting. Researchers at National Metrology Institute of Germany (PTB) developed MultiSpeX, a new goniophotometer designed to measure lamp efficiency with what the institute describes as the world's highest accuracy. The goal is simple: understand light more precisely to optimize how it is generated, used, and improved.
