The importance of symbolism in film. ____________________________________ Did you know that Sicily produces some of the best Oranges in Europe? A town called Corleone, It is also the birthplace of the Mafia as showcased in the #FrancisFordCopolla trans generational award winning tragic-drama #TheGodFather - appropriately named Vito Corleone. A lot of key scenes were filmed in either orange orchids or shops were oranges were sold and anytime there was on orange fruit in the scene, it was an ominous sign that death was lurking. As African and Nigerian filmmakers, what sort of symbolism are we writing into our films ? For instance if you are shooting an epic, what is that town known for ? Are there accoutrements of that culture you can use as either a plot device or a background element ? These are nuances that make your film standout.
