The Research and Information System for Developing Countries @RIS_NewDelhi was pleased to host Dr. Senthil Pandian C, Ambassador and Permanent Representative of India to the WTO (PMI) @IndiaWTO, today.
Prof. Sachin Kumar Sharma, DG, RIS, along with Mr. Atul Kaushik, held discussions with the Ambassador on key developments at the WTO, with a particular focus on agriculture negotiations and related issues. The exchange provided valuable insights into the evolving multilateral trade landscape and ongoing negotiating dynamics.
Importantly, the discussions also explored ways to strengthen collaboration between RIS and the Permanent Mission of India to the WTO, particularly on agriculture-related issues, analytical support, and policy research, in view of the upcoming WTO Ministerial Conference (MC-14). Such collaboration would help inform evidence-based positions and support India’s engagement in ongoing and future WTO negotiations.
RIS is grateful to Dr. Pandian for his valuable insights and perspectives, which greatly enriched the discussion, and looks forward to continued engagement on critical WTO and development-related issues.

Oil prices are down, interest rates are down (the slow moving Fed should cut rates!), food prices are down, there is NO INFLATION, and the long time abused USA is bringing in Billions of Dollars a week from the abusing countries on Tariffs that are already in place. This is despite the fact that the biggest abuser of them all, China, whose markets are crashing, just raised its Tariffs by 34%, on top of its long term ridiculously high Tariffs (Plus!), not acknowledging my warning for abusing countries not to retaliate. They’ve made enough, for decades, taking advantage of the Good OL’ USA! Our past “leaders” are to blame for allowing this, and so much else, to happen to our Country. MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!

Humankind is evolving, often imperceptibly influencing our lives and fundamental values. It's imperative that we avoid destructive wars & conflicts. For this, international institutions must promptly demonstrate their value. Instead of investing in wars, we should focus on the most significant issues facing our humanity today: eradicating #poverty, #humanrights, #education, #greentransitions, #multilateraltrade, #ethicalAI, #climatechange etc.
In my street, I have Muslim, Jewish, and many Ukrainian neighbors, and it's evident that wars transcend borders, shaping how we perceive one another. The current wars and conflicts impoverish us in multiple ways. We must prevent a regression into barbarism, requiring sincere and honest engagement from political leaders, governments, the global community, and even this platform.
There is no room for the personal views or preferences of individual political leaders. What we need is fairness and evidence-based policy to address these conflicts and wars effectively and constructively. We need a positive vision for our humanity and civilization, to reach the end of the tunnel and construct a sustainable and positive way of coexisting! Hope that tomorrow will be a better day!
